First or craziest thing your cat brought home?

This morning our sweet kitten came in with a new friend for the first time...she was carrying (well, hanging out of her mouth) the largest f'ing dragonfly I've ever seen in my life Shock.

What's the first thing your cat brought home? Or the craziest thing they've brought back home? Grin

My mother's cat sauntered home casually carrying a cooked chicken drumstick.

And on another occasion a slice of hot pizza.

My friend's pair of Burmese brought home a fully grown hare (deceased). They were caught just as they were working out the logistics of bringing it through the cat flap into the house.

Heard once on the radio of a cat that came home with a fork attached to its maagnetic collar!!

CassandraCross · 24/08/2021 14:37

MiL's cat was most impressed with his capture of a cabbage leaf.

TroysMammy · 24/08/2021 14:37

Troy would proudly bring home the plastic that keeps 4 cans of beer together to play with.

Haribo nothing - yet.

Hesperatum · 24/08/2021 14:51

My daughter’s Maine Coon proudly presented several hunks of ciabatta over a week. No idea where they came from.

LubaLuca · 24/08/2021 14:54

Twice we've had entire and perfect birds' nests through the catflap.
A zip bag for washing delicates in (I think).

JomeeSot · 24/08/2021 15:01

Our beautiful huge stray tom cat who decided to live with us brought the following.
A budgie (deceased)
Koi carp
Numerous crows and a magpie
On Christmas morning a brand new cat toy so obviously pilfering.
Funniest was a tennis ball. I honestly don't know how he opened his mouth that wide.

Some of these are hilarious...and some are gross!! Cats are weird Grin

A racing pigeon’s leg complete with ring and a pile of corn (rest of pigeon gone and v happy cat). I had to contact The Racing Pigeon association and ask for my apologies to be passed to the pigeon’s owner. The pigeon had only travelled 1/2 mile before dcat caught it.

No idea how he managed it as he was as daft as a brush and his idea of catching a bird generally involved randomly leaping off the fence as birds flew overhead.

He was so friendly he went up to a tom cat (wanting to be friends) who promptly sprayed him. Had to bath him, which was fine as he loved getting wet and being bathed.

Mumdiva99 · 24/08/2021 15:52

An eaten piece of corn on the cob. Walked in the kitchen to find it in the middle of the floor.

JimmyLennon · 24/08/2021 15:58

As a kitten she would bring us leaves - lovely and cute!

Now it's slow worms (or just the slow worms tail), frogs, mice, butterflies. Always alive and always miaows to show us what she's got.

SourMilkGhyll · 24/08/2021 16:08

A kitten (which now lives with us)

THwife · 24/08/2021 16:09

Potatoes!! 3 years of endless potatoes over the summer 🤷🏼‍♀️

OddryHepburn · 24/08/2021 16:14

So many things! A big yellow car washing sponge, an empty packet of quavers, and loads of mice, birds etc, some alive, some dead, but the best have been:

  • an alive buzzard that we had to get the RSPB to come and pick up
  • a mouse already caught in a mouse trap

  • a chicken kebab, still warm, clearly nicked from a neighbours BBQ!!

SquirryTheSquirrel · 24/08/2021 16:15

A gardening glove.

weegiemum · 24/08/2021 16:19

A decomposing magpie. I don't think she killed it and have no idea how she got it over the 7' back fence!

Mouseketeer2015 · 24/08/2021 16:19

Over the years we've had - live fantail pigeon, a bat (of the flying variety) and half a toasted cheese sandwich......

NatMoz · 24/08/2021 16:40

Girl cat started out with leaves and at one point would go back and forth presenting me with new leaves over the course of 2 hours.

That's where the cuteness ends.

She is so tiny but an absolute predator. We've had 2 squirrels, numerous mice which she gobbles up before we can get rid, several birds but the absolute worst was the giant rat almost as big as her and alive. My husband was frightened of it it was that big! Thank God he managed to get it out.

Boy cat is less of a maniac. He is a frog man mainly but will occasionally present us with dead rats on our kitchen floor as a gift in the morning. One time he even garnished them with sprigs of leaves!!

noblegreenk · 24/08/2021 16:54

I don't have a cat, but there's one near me who pinches neighbours washing up sponges and takes them home to his owner. The owner posted an apology alongside a picture on the local FB group of her cat with his collection of sponges!

ShitShop · 24/08/2021 17:01

Several different brands of cat food pouches. Can only assume he was going into many of the neighbours houses and helping himself to their stash!

Previous cats caught a pheasant and between them devoured it leaving only a bile sac of some sort Envy

Feeing quite lucky that current cats only bring in regular birds and mice! Although one likes to trot down the stairs meowing his “look what I caught” meow with a pokemon plushie in his mouth several times a week!

ReginaaPhalange · 24/08/2021 17:29

These are brilliant! Please keep them coming!

My cat couldn't catch her tail! 🤣

NotMyCat · 24/08/2021 17:30

A leaf. He's never brought anything before or since
Oh, he does bring black and white cats home Hmm

Bimblepops · 24/08/2021 17:31

Strangest offering my cats have ever bought home was a slice of quiche…

NotMyCat · 24/08/2021 17:33

"Human, I brought a friend home" Hmm

Years ago I met a woman who was gifted 2 fresh pheasants so hung them in the pantry for two weeks.

She kept finding feathers on the floor and puzzled about it but cleaned up.

When she went to cook them her cat had been jumping up onto the pantry shelves and had eaten all the breast meat off them.
