Cheddar will usually come in when called. Magic will go and find cheddar if I ask her too. I have always had doubts if they are actually real cats though!

Their faces make me smile so much!! Little grumpy floofs!

Ivy definitely understands us. She doesn't do as she is told but if I say "do you want a love" she hops up on my knee. And if I say "do you want to go out?" She runs to the windowsill and meows.

Betsy either doesn't understand or just feels so much contempt towards us that she doesn't respond.

Cornettoninja · 20/08/2021 18:31

I’m afraid I’m going to have to catnap your cats. They’re just too charismatic. Sorry about that.

(And no mine doesn’t, we have more of a I do what I’m told Grin)

Nanasueathome · 20/08/2021 18:34

Those are super photos

Fluffycloudland77 · 20/08/2021 18:36

The departed Bengal would refrain from jumping on the counters if I said no. Other than that he pretty much did as he liked but he was special boy.

Current cat is scared of her own shadow and I think someone’s hit her so she’s pretty manageable at the moment with a “err, excuse me!”.

They can’t be sacked so why behave? It’s not like there’s any consequences is there.

IveGotASongThatllGetOnYNerves · 20/08/2021 18:38

Do as they're told hahahahahahahahaha

No. She doesn't.
We obey her though. She trained us well.

NotMyCat · 20/08/2021 18:44

Ollie mostly does. He knows me going < gasp > is uh oh, best get off the worktop
He does sit and paw for treats

JoanOgden · 20/08/2021 18:46

No, but my cat has trained me really well - when she gives her special miaow, I know that I need to sit down immediately so she can get on my lap.

FelicityBeedle · 20/08/2021 18:48

He comes to bed in the basket by our bed when we do, if that counts. A tap tap tap on a sofa arm or lap will get him to jump up 50% of the time

ProcrastinationIsMySuperPower · 20/08/2021 18:49

Magic comes when she's called, usually. But she doesn't get down off the table when I ask her to.

SquirryTheSquirrel · 20/08/2021 18:54

Only when it suits them. Otherwise they just ignore me. They know:

their names
'out'
'off'
'no'
'that's mummy's chair'
'go to see daddy'
... and 'Dreamies!'

but only the last one is consistently obeyed!

Joolsin · 20/08/2021 18:56

Jess does whatever the hell she wants!

NeverDropYourMooncup · 23/08/2021 17:42

Of course.

Naturally, this is usually only because they've convinced me to tell them to do exactly what they wanted in the first place, though.

salooone · 23/08/2021 17:46

Mine lies down on command. She fusses for ages at bedtime trying to get just the right spot on the bed, if she's still at it after 5 minutes a firm lie down has her settle down. Has to be said in a very specific tone though Grin.

Snailhaterz2 · 23/08/2021 18:16

Both mine come when called, but only if a dreamies packet is rustled at the same time....

itssarcasmjoan · 23/08/2021 18:34

My cats know No!
They aren't allowed in the spare room but will still try to enter, they sit at the door, look and very gingerly step over the threshold. One no! and they leg it.

SparkyTheCat · 23/08/2021 22:21

DCat3 runs up the stairs for "bedtime" and dives into bed with me. DCat1 would not demean himself to obey a human (unless Dreamies are on offer, in which case he'll think about it and get back to you). DCat2 is deaf, so gets a pass on this one.

Yugi · 25/08/2021 08:54

Over several years I have trained Sue not to jump on the kitchen counters while I can see her

NapoleonOzmolysis · 25/08/2021 09:09

No. Dcat1 was in the porch from 6.15am until 7am this morning waiting for DH to go for his run - and let him in and feed him before he went, despite the catflap in the back door - I told DH this when I looked at the Ring camera notifications. DH replies "but I told him last night that I wasn't going for a jog this morning" Grin

LavenderAskew · 25/08/2021 09:18

No.

He certainly understood mind you, as he would usually do the exact opposite.

Shallysally · 25/08/2021 13:42

Nope! She does understand no, but mostly she chooses to ignore it!

She was having a lovely time last week, climbing between curtain and window, I said, sharply, no, together with a little prod, she just poked her head around the curtain, DD and I just fell about laughing 🙈🤣

Fluffycloudland77 · 25/08/2021 14:01

This is how they get away with things. The cuteness is just too much to stay cross with.

bamboocat · 25/08/2021 14:05

I used to have one that would respond to "Sit" and "Beg", but only when Dreamies were on offer.

floofycroissant · 25/08/2021 14:06

He does sometimes do what I ask but I think in reality it's more a meeting of minds 😂

JomeeSot · 25/08/2021 14:12

My last cat Tommy would sometimes listen to me if I said sit by the fire if I didn't want to be trapped under him on the sofa.
At other times he would ignore me and walk towards me in slow motion.
Obviously he thought he was invisible by doing this Grin

LST · 25/08/2021 14:15

No. When I call them in they come.. if they're hungry..
