Help cat keeps being sick

Sadless · 06/08/2021 21:15

Hi my cat started throwing up hair balls yesterday then today she's still being sick without hair in it and have noticed that she has dirreaha now as well. I have been offering her food but she's not interested.
Does anyone thing it could just be a upset stomach or will it need a visit to the vets.

Any advice

Thanks
Sal

I would be taking her to the vets as I believe that cats can become dehydrated quite quickly.

MrsSchadenfreude · 06/08/2021 21:19

Offer water and bland food like boiled fish snd scrambled egg. Mine ate some bug the other week and puked and had diarrhoea. She was fine the next morning and shouting for her usual food (she sneered at the boiled coley but the other cat ate it). If she’s no better in the morning then go to the vet.

daisycottage · 07/08/2021 00:39

What food has she been eating?

Mia184 · 07/08/2021 05:55

Give her cooked unsalted chicken breast as that is mild on the stomach and take her to the vet asap.

I hope she will get better.

astoundedgoat · 07/08/2021 05:58

Stop giving whatever food you have bought for her & check to see if it has been recalled.

Wiggleinherwalk · 07/08/2021 05:59

Are you feeding Applaws, P@H brand Ava or Applaws? If so Google the food recall news as your cat will need to get to a vet urgently!!

JulesCobb · 07/08/2021 06:01

Yes lots of recall and suffering cats atm. Give the bland human food instead, plenty if water and phone the vet.

icedcoffees · 07/08/2021 07:04

What are you seeing her)s

icedcoffees · 07/08/2021 07:04

God, ignore that Blush

I mean - what are you feeding her? Lots of foods have been recalled lately due to issues with sickness.

Sadless · 07/08/2021 09:11

She eats sheba fine flake and sometimes Eats some kitten felix foods. I was hoping she might feel abit better this morning but still has watery poo going to try her with some food. Think it's going to be a visit to the vets I was hoping it might just be a stomach bug. She is a British shorthair and nearly 3 years old this month so hoping its nothing age related. She looks really miserable.
I have th joli app as part of my pet insurance it's supposed to be a free consultation don't know if to tried that first.

You can try giving her pumpkin (not the tinned kind that is used in pies), psyllium husk and probiotics for cats.

Get as much fluid into her as you can.

If it continues, get her to the vet with samples of vomit and diarrhea, if you can.

showmethegin · 07/08/2021 09:24

Definitely vets urgently. Cats can become dehydrated very quickly

FatAnkles · 07/08/2021 09:29

My cat contracted a kidney infection at a cattery and had similar symptoms. Went to the vet straight away. She was given antibiotics and an anti-sickness jab. Had to eat very plain cat food. I'd ring your vet ASAP.

icedcoffees · 07/08/2021 11:20

Some Felix foods have been the subject of complaints - cats being sick etc. I would check yours isn't one of them.

Sadless · 07/08/2021 11:33

Rang vets they said they didn't have any appointments available today as only have 2 vets in. They said nip and get some pro max for her I have just been and picked it up. Problem is she's no interest in eat so luckily it comes in a syringe feeder. The vets said if she still same tomorrow ring back.
I am going to give her some now and see if she keeps it down.

I would ring a different vet asap and not wait until tomorrow

FitToFly · 07/08/2021 12:13

My vet would have seen her straight away, I would try somewhere else?

Wolfiefan · 07/08/2021 12:20

Get her to a different vet. Watery poo could actually signal a bowel blockage.

icedcoffees · 07/08/2021 12:59

I wouldn't wait until tomorrow tbh.

daisycottage · 07/08/2021 14:56

There's a problem with Felix at the moment. Lots of cat owners are reporting sickness and diarrhoea after their cats have eaten it. I'd advise you to stop feeding Felix.

Sadless · 07/08/2021 15:23

She's only had a few bits when robbing off the kittens bowl. She has managed to keep down the pro max and then she went for a drink and she is definitely urinating. I rang the vets back and they said If I ring first thing in morning I should get an appointment and The other local vets I don't trust. she seems a little happier at the minute. Other problem is my daugther had to take a pcr test yesterday because shes got symptoms and if that come back we have to isolate and I have no family to take her to the vets. But if she's still the same she's going to have to go. Will they let me drop her off outside and do a consultation with me there.

We bought some Felix last week as it was the only thing in Sainsburys. Cat started vomiting after eating. We thought it was caused by mice, as she's been catching and eating a lot recently, but then I read about Felix so we stopped feeding it to her. She's been fine since, and has definitely had a few mice in that time.

Suzi888 · 07/08/2021 15:45

Is she drinking?
When my dog was vomiting my vet told me to wait a week before taking him in (appreciate cat advice may be different). Hope all will be ok.

Sadless · 07/08/2021 18:16

She's drinking now still doesn't want any food just spoke to another vet they said it sounds like a upset stomach and it was a good sign her keeping the promax down.
Was told if she starts looking bad to ring back other wise wait till morning to go normal vets.
