Do you have rooms in your house that your cats are not allowed in?

When we got the Fur Overlords I said they couldn't go in the utility , mainly because I didnt want them getting down the back of the WM , getting stuck and going into panic.
They don't go out the front door (cat door in the kitchen)

So , rolll on a couple of years . They push the utility door open to go in. They've been down the back of the WM .
DH let the female cat into the porch (enclosed) because "she wanted to look round"

The only closed door is DD bedroom which of course infuriates Female Cat who demands I just give the door a push .

Do you have those "look we discussed this" conversations or do they just ride roughshod and basically take over ?

I have to say though, mine don't walk on the kitchen worktops . Every-bloody-where-else ....but not the worktops !

Mine go everywhere, including the worktops.
It doesn't bother me.
That said, it's just me who lives here, and I don't prepare food for others.

PawsQueen · 17/06/2021 23:28

Ollie doesn't go in the bathrooms but that's because water is terrifying and bathrooms are for "hooman stuff". He sits at the threshold wailing but won't put a paw over the door Grin

And no worktops. He sometimes sits on the bit which isn't really in the kitchen but nowhere else

My bedroom! No compromise oh and the study (spare room)

PawsQueen · 17/06/2021 23:29

Oh and not my cat goes everywhere he wants. Ollie screams at him when he's walking on the worktops Confused

Shehasadiamondinthesky · 17/06/2021 23:34

Haha no, I wouldn't dare.
She has her own room for security and I am not allowed in there. She gets sensory overload sometimes and just needs to be on her own. I make sure her room is a safe haven where nobody will touch her or bother her and she knows that if she goes in there she will be left alone.
She comes out when she needs company.

Sparklingbrook · 17/06/2021 23:35

Access all areas here.
I don’t allow cats on worktops. Don’t know what happened in her previous life but if you were to put Sparklingcat up there she immediately jumps down anyway.

TheSpottedZebra · 17/06/2021 23:42

Officially mine aren't allowed in the spare room (as in the BeforeTimes, an allergic person often stayed), but one of them just mashes the door open anyway. He goes where he wants.

They both go on the worktops even though I get them off every time.

Weirdfan · 17/06/2021 23:43

I'm not even allowed to shut her out of the bathroom when I'm in there using the loo ffs, she wails and tries to dig through the door until I let her in. Rooms she's not allowed in, yeah right Grin

Gorkastalker · 17/06/2021 23:46

No, mine are allowed everywhere. One chooses not to go upstairs, but that's up to her.

Temp023 · 17/06/2021 23:46

Yes, but only because there is a cage full of rats in there.

eddiemairswife · 17/06/2021 23:59

Mine goes everywhere except when my daughter stays when she won't go into her bedroom, even though my daughter wants her to.

cauliflowersqueeze · 18/06/2021 00:06

It’s more the rooms the cat doesn’t want you to go in, which is the more likely set up.

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 18/06/2021 00:14

Our first cat used to walk on the worktops , she was blatant Grin Even if she wasn't sat there the pawmarks were a giveaway .
These two don't bother !

Even DD laptop isn't safe

My cats own the house but thank god none of them jump up on the worktops.

Fluffycloudland77 · 18/06/2021 07:33

He wasn’t allowed in the lounge which meant you never watched a program without being summoned to attend to the cat.

spotcheck · 18/06/2021 07:44

Nope, cat goes everywhere.
She also goes on countertop, but only one small area where she can look out
That's what I tell myself, anyway.

Allergictoironing · 18/06/2021 07:53

Not in the spare bedroom, as I lay smarter "work" type clothes out on the bed in there. And not in the loo (separate from the bathroom) as the door tends to swing closed and I could just see Girlcat getting herself trapped in there.

I also shut them out of the kitchen over night & when I'm out. Not because I'm precious about it, quite the opposite with stuff strewn everywhere and the potential for another incident like "The Asda Bag Event" is just too high.

Grumpyoldpersonwithcats · 18/06/2021 07:55

Sorry if this sounds a bit pretentious but...
Our cats were not allowed in the library up until 4 weeks ago, but since I started my new job and use the library as my office the three black ones are in there with me for the entire working day.
They are also not allowed in the music room.
Re worktops, I'm afraid Sybil currently lives on the kitchen table.

Beamur · 18/06/2021 07:57

Two of mine accept no boundaries. Go everywhere and are impervious to any form of 'no'. One actually turns to you, gives the sweetest smile and purrs harder when you attempt discipline and just carries on...
My other cat is a good girl..

AnnaMagnani · 18/06/2021 07:58

No. When they arrived and scratched the carpet we became an all doors open house.

We did enforce 'not on the worktops' very successfully with 4 cats abut arrival of Desert Cat has put an end to that.

He does as he pleases and we pretend we think it's cute.

Amrythings · 18/06/2021 08:09

He's not allowed upstairs and not allowed in the office unsupervised (he thinks leads are toys). And he's not supposed to get on the sofa without his blanket being down and ABSOLUTELY not allowed on DH's seat.

Guess where he is every time I turn my back, of course.

Closetbeanmuncher · 18/06/2021 08:48

My bedroom and the kitchen counters

minipie · 18/06/2021 08:50

Cellar, due to hazardous stuff down there. But she’s managed to get herself shut down there several times anyway.

Hoppinggreen · 18/06/2021 08:50

We prefer them not to go in the bedrooms but they do sometimes go into DDs, they never go into DSs and one of them comes into mine if I’m in there but DH isn’t.
They don’t go on the worktops while we are there but who knows?

Closetbeanmuncher · 18/06/2021 08:50

Just for the obvious hygiene reasons of litter tray paws where I prepare my food and where I sleep 🤢
