How much do I sell kittens for?

I recently rescued a black and white female and it turns out she is pregnant. I'm not sure with how many kittens yet. I have no clue of her breed or the breed of the father of the kittens.

As much as I would love to keep them, I can't and will need to sell them. I want to make sure they are going to good homes.

What is the usual selling point for kittens of this type?

@Regularsizedrudy

You “rescued” her privately? You mean you bought a pet.
No, that's not what I meant or I would've said that.

Thank you for your advice everyone. I have contacted a rescue and just waiting to hear back.

Someone doesn't want a cat anymore and you take it on.... thats how I've got all of mine.

I bought my happy and well looked after cat for £40 a few years ago. Remember a time when people used to give kittens away for free. Now people suggest they should cost £150 and upwards to 'ensure they go to a good home'. Paranoia much.

@PegPeople

I assume you rescued her privately as otherwise the rescue centre would have already spayed her?

I wouldn't be selling them I'd be getting in touch with rescue centres and asking if they could rehomed them once weaned. They will do proper home checks and make sure they go to responsible owners.

Shes rescued a pg cat, they're not going to have speyed her until she is no longer pg

My kitten was £20 last November. The lady works with my husband and sold the others for £25. She wanted good homes for them so didn't charge much but vetted people and re homed as much as possible to people she knew.

How about the cost of getting them spayed and their first shots? Seems reasonable and I think a fee like that weeds out people who are getting a kitten on a whim or worse.

This happened to me. Cat turned up on my door and decided to move in (as they do!) and a few weeks later I had four kittens!

Luckily, two of my colleagues at work each took two, so that sorted the problem.

Hopefully the rescue will find them good homes but excuse me, photo please!

You take them off someone for free - that's how we got our second cat.

Someone was re-homing him via Gumtree. They didn't want money for him. It became clear that he'd been badly abused and kicked about (we think by a man) and that they were re-homing him because he was displaying fear-based aggression as a result.

We've had him four years now and he's very happy. His old owners' never received anything for him and we took over his chip details and registered him in our name with no issues.

@mermaidsariel
Your vet is incorrect
The advice to spay kittens from 4 months has been around for years and is supported by research and all major welfare charities
