Now he's killing squirrels...

My 2 year old cat has started bringing me dead animal gifts. Countless mice, 2 birds, a fish from the pond, now a squirrel!!
He's standing outside with it in his mouth waiting to be let in.
Any ideas how to stop this.
Is it food related?
Incidentally He's constantly hungry.
Badgers for food all the time, eats through tin foil and the bread bag if its left out, he's even worked out how to press the catch on the bin to eat leftovers !!
Help !!!

OP, your cat is awesome, and clearly very fast!

@Blabla81 - I've also had snakes being brought home to me - only one of which was actually dead, the other 2 were just pretending Hmm
I've also had countless toads, every rodent you can name, numerous birds, a duckling, a squirrel...and lots of clean laundry Hmm Shock

Our first cat released a magpie in the kitchen; I managed to catch it in a towel and release it. We also had rats, mice, frogs and a mole, all live and mostly well. One of the rats took up residence in the larder. Cheers.

I have heard of a cat bringing in a live hare and letting it go. Apparently once a hare gets going around your bungalow, you know all about it.

I love these competitive 'what my cat brought in' threads Grin I'm waiting for a Mnetter in Florida to report her tiny kitten dragged an alligator into the kitchen, disembowelled it then fell asleep 😅

@cctvrec

Erm I'll take the dead animals I think.

Just how often do you receive "a gift"?

cctvrec · 19/05/2021 12:07

@RandomMess sadly it's too bloody often, maybe one a month then increasing to weekly during summer days when she's out more and people are walking their dogs on the field near us. (Muddy when wet and busy in summer)

Kitty poops on a patch of common grass in front of our house so I regularly poop scoop the area (rather there than poor neighbour's flower beds) so even without owning a dog I'm still 'effing about with dog poo bags. I don't need some bugger else's! Hmm

My tiny Burmese often catches squirrels - unfortunately doesn’t seem to harm them at all so if he gets in we have live squirrel in the kitchen.

Of late though he’s started bringing home dishcloths and unused ( thank god!) sanitary towels Confused

Does an eviscerated stuffed Triceratops count?

I've had one of them.
