Just because I've got a day off work today and me and my gorgeous ginger rescue girl are lounging on my bed in the sunshine and I'm thinking how lucky I am to have her.
Here she is on the day she arrived in May last year.

So just feeling the love for rescues and would love to see yours

Our rescue has been with us for 10 years. She’s a real people cat and can even say “hello”. She likes being carried like a baby and is on your lap the instant you sit down.

We’re extremely lucky.

This is Basil. He’s from Romania via the amazing World Animal Friends charity. Soppiest and sweetest little thing. You can drape him and wear him like a snood, should you feel the need. He and our baby gang up on us!

We found a feral kitten in the garden that we had to catch in a trap, spitting and a complete savage.
This is her 10 years down the line, such a cherished cat adored by us all Smile

Your cats are all glorious!

Here are my DFluffyCat and DNinjaCat (another black one) - sisters from the same litter, rescued at six months, the rescue had been given them as an unwanted litter :( black cat threw herself at me and definitely chose me, fluffy tortie was believe it or not the runt of the litter and I couldn't touch her for about six months.

Seven years on and we are the happiest little family of three, many purrs, both come for cuddles of their own accord and they've saved my sanity this year (though also threatened it because I can't cope with the cute!)

Eponine.
You can't tell from this photo but she was run over a few years ago and lost a leg, a toe and a tooth.
She still rules the roost in our house though what Epi wants, she gets!

Here's the lovely girl. We've had her 2 years from a local rescue. She was so nervous for a long time but so lovely. She is about 5 now and less than 4kg. I don't think her bloodlines are very impressive! It's true that the black ones are less photo-friendly, or I'm a rubbish photographer.

This is Casper. We got him from a local rescue three years ago. He's a demanding diva who frequently bites and scratches for no apparent reason that we can discern, but I love him anyway.

These are my beauties, rescued last Jan. They both have car flu, so the breeder took them to vet to be put down Angry. Vet gave them to rescue instead.

Bicnod · 27/02/2021 08:29

This is my nearly 1 year old rescue fast asleep. I think it's fair to say she's pretty relaxed...

Ahhh all these gorgeous cats Grin

There does seem to be a huge number of black cats ( and yes there is Black Cat Appreciation Day ) coming from rescues .

All these cats seem so settled and have taken over their homes as is their right and calling . Or maybe the camera has caught them in that split second of calm before they go running amok ?

She's still little bit approx 8 years old.

My foster fail. So far 13 rescue kittens have come to us and 12 left for new homes. All black.

Sausagis · 27/02/2021 15:06

@RandomMess she is a Maine Coon (but quite small - maybe a runt?). From GSPCA which is the Guernsey version of RSPCA. She does have an incredible ability to curl up super small or stretch out to large cat size!

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 27/02/2021 17:39

mostlydrinkstea what was it about Kitten 13 that made her /him stay with you?

When we were looking ( I say "we" but DH got me to search and narrow down the choices) FemaleCat's beautiful swan-like neck sealed her fate . How many black cats out there ? The choice was made on that photo !

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 27/02/2021 17:41

Obvs we met them before they came to us to make sure everyone was happy , but that photo was the one that said to me " they're the ones"

FredWinnie · 27/02/2021 20:56

Beautiful cats

This is Demon kitty
She has grown from a nervy little thing into a fully fledged tortie diva Smile

Best decision ever and has totally converted DH to cats (though he says she’s exceptional!)

My beautiful ginger rescue. 12 years old, head of household. Here seen taking it easy as usual. Spends 23 hours a day in bed. We love him to bits.

She's 10 this year, I've had her from a kitten. She attacked my arm with regularity until I learned that purring didn't always mean shes happy. We've both learned that a paw on my hand, when she's had enough works.
