He’s been in an ‘altercation’ again. He’s torn his extra eyelid (who even knew that was a thing???) poor boys feeling very sorry for himself . As will I when I attempt to put his eye drops in.... may get dh to do it while I do the holding. I feel he may be ‘better’ at it ....

Oh ouch! Poor Colin, I hope he feels better soon (and you don’t lose any limbs attempting the drops).

FlitterMouse · 31/10/2020 20:02

Oh poor Colin. Good luck with the drops and wishing him a speedy recovery, it must be sore.

NoMoreFlowers · 31/10/2020 20:03

Best wishes Colin 😻

Kenworthington · 31/10/2020 20:04

Thanks. He’s not a vocal kitty so he’s being quite stoic about it. Poor chap though 😿

giantangryrooster · 31/10/2020 20:15

Fluffycloudland77 · 31/10/2020 20:17

Come give some virtual hugs to poor Colin
nancybotwinbloom · 31/10/2020 20:21

Colin is the double of my cat Clyde. Even down to the white hairs on his chest!

Kenworthington · 02/11/2020 15:58

Thanks for all the well wishes. She’s been scared of going out since the poor thing. Also- his left damaged eye is still massively dilated. Is that ok? I tried calling the vet to ask about it but I can’t get through

OP posts:
giantangryrooster · 02/11/2020 16:26

@Kenworthington
My dd is a (senior) vet student, she says to check if the eye drops you are giving him contains atropine. If so it causes the pupil to dilate.

Otherwise you can post the name and she will look it up.

giantangryrooster · 02/11/2020 16:30

If the vet seeing him, put atropine in to examine the eye, it can take up to several days to subside.

But contact your vet if in doubt.

Kenworthington · 02/11/2020 16:36

Ah great thanks yes the vet put some dye in it to look at it so maybe that’s it phew!

OP posts:
giantangryrooster · 02/11/2020 16:39

No, sorry the dye is a different product to check for cornea ulcers. You better ask the vet.

Kenworthington · 02/11/2020 16:44

Ah ok the drops brand is isathal

OP posts:
Kenworthington · 02/11/2020 16:48

I’ve tried googling it but it doesn’t mention it

OP posts:
giantangryrooster · 02/11/2020 16:51

Isathal is an acid and antibiotic, I hope your vet checked for ulsers on the cornea, because acid makes ulsers much worse.

Please contact your vet, if they haven't used atropine either, your cat should be checked again.

giantangryrooster · 02/11/2020 16:53

because acid makes ulsers much worse. - on the cornea.

BadEyeBri · 02/11/2020 16:57

Hey I'm a vet. The first thing I noticed on your photo was that dilated pupil. That's not right. Back to your vet please.

BadEyeBri · 02/11/2020 16:58

Isathal is perfectly safe with corneal ulcers. It contains an antibiotic called fucidic acid. It does not have atropine in and will not cause the dilation of the pupil.

FingersCrossedForAllOfUs · 02/11/2020 17:01

Poor poor Colin please take him back to the vet as PP advised.
I hope he soon recovers.

giantangryrooster · 02/11/2020 17:03

Thank you @BadEyeBri, nice with some more knowledge, peww Smile.

But dd has been warned by another (old) vet that all guidelines recommend fucidic acids, but actually they often make it worse 🤷‍♀️.

But as I said dd is a student Smile.

BadEyeBri · 02/11/2020 17:14

It won't make the ulcer worse. It might not heal it but it won't melt it. I've been in small animal practice for 15years. Your daughter might be confused with steroid drops which should never be put in an ulcerated eye.
Good luck to your daughter. Tell her there's still time to change to dentistry. Or law. Or anything else TBH.

giantangryrooster · 02/11/2020 17:23

Grin she is still young and enthusiastic. Dentistry simply must be much worse in my opinion. Hope you enjoy your work sometimes though Smile.

Kenworthington · 02/11/2020 17:58

Thanks all. I’ve phoned the vet and he’s booked back in for tomorrow at the bigger vets practice where they can do more intensive tests. She thinks perhaps the damage is greater than they originally thought 😿
