She's missing

My beautiful cat hasn't been home for 24hrs now, I know it's not that long in the grand scheme of things but it's so unlike her, she's so shy and timid and never stays out overnight! I'm going out of my mind, literally crying on and off all day! It's been so windy today and she's petrified of the wind I'm hoping she's just been hiding out waiting for it to drop and will toddle home soon! Please tell me your happy endings for my long night ahead 💤

It is worrying when they disappear - one of my cats disappeared for two nights, we think it was because a big summer thunderstorm was approaching (which really doesn't make sense because she would have been safer indoors), she was feeling sorry for herself when she returned but she was fine. My other cat disappeared for five days and came back smelling of fags and a perfume that I don't wear. We were so worried whilst she was gone and it hurt my pride to find out she had been cheating on me with another human Wink.

I think our neighbours are going to get annoyed with us soon as my husband has been staying up late to call her when it's quieter

Now your neighbours have spoken to you and seen your posters, they will know why your husband is calling her. They won't mind - they will understand. Good luck looking for Florence. Fingers crossed she is home soon

Rldx2 · 17/05/2020 11:22

Still no sign of Florence 😞 really losing hope now. I even went out at 4.30 yesterday morning as we'd tried the late night calling with no luck! We've gone further with the knocking and leafleting, spoken to local people who are all lovely and keeping an eye for her! The only good thing is we haven't heard from any vets, seems this is the only thing helping me through

Sorry OP, I am keeping everything crossed for you that you get your girl back soon. Mine have only ever been missing 24 hours and I was out of my mind so I really feel for you. Try not to despair yet, lots of stories of cats making their way home after several days.

AwrightDoreenTakeAFuckinDayOff · 17/05/2020 17:40

Still hoping for you Flowers

Rldx2 · 17/05/2020 18:15

Thank you @AwrightDoreenTakeAFuckinDayOff and @SeagullSong I'm still holding on to some hope! Someone living on a estate not far from us also has a missing tortie has messaged me saying she got called to see a cat that could be hers, sadly isn't but she thinks it might be Florence, I've been over this afternoon but no sign of any cat at all so my husband is going this evening, I'm so hoping he brings her home, the sadness I feel every false alarm is too much 🙁

Fingers crossed you’ll find her soon. My neighbours cat went missing for 6 months then turned up

userxx · 17/05/2020 20:58

I've got everything crossed that it is Florence. 🤞

Toddlerteaplease · 17/05/2020 21:17

Friends of mine recently had their cat reappear after 4 years. Don't give up hope!

BreadmanAndCake · 17/05/2020 21:48

Keeping fingers and toes crossed that Florence comes home soon x

Rldx2 · 18/05/2020 09:10

Morning everyone, I just wanted to come and tell you all my beautiful Florence came home this morning!!!! I'm so happy! I've no idea where she's been, she doesn't look like she's been in any awful situation although she has lost some weight! She's eaten a bucket load, had a decent wash and is now sleeping on her throne 😊 thank you all so much over the last few days, I've really appreciated all your comments x

Always good news hearing that a missing cat has returned.
Delighted that you have the lovely Florence back. Grin

Beamur · 18/05/2020 09:26

If cats could talk I'm sure she would tell you she's had an exciting time exploring a bit further from home. I think younger cats quite often disappear overnight in the lighter evenings as they have a wander.
So glad she's home.

Toddlerteaplease · 18/05/2020 09:35

Great news!

ItsSpittingEverybodyIn · 18/05/2020 09:38

Such a happy ending, and she's gorgeous!

Dodie66 · 18/05/2020 09:40

Oh I’m so pleased for you. I bet you won’t let her out of your sight now. She is gorgeous

AwrightDoreenTakeAFuckinDayOff · 18/05/2020 09:52

I am bloody thrilled for you both! Smile

Now she must be smothered in lovies for it is the law Flowers

thecatneuterer · 18/05/2020 10:06

Oh that's a relief!

YetAnotherSpartacus · 18/05/2020 10:12

Florence is grounded for a while I hope!

I'm so glad she is back.

Want2beme · 18/05/2020 10:26

Oh, that's such great news!😺 Where have you been Florence?

nettie434 · 18/05/2020 10:40

Such ggod news Ridx2. Nice to see a picture of the errant cat. Florence is absolutely lovely!

Florence is grounded for a while I hope!

One of my friends has a cat who is a big explorer. However, he has to stay in overnight as he has lost at least two lives being run over. She claims when lockdown was announced, he declared, 'Good, let's see how those humans like lockdown now they have to follow it.'

She met him on his wanders once when she and her husband were going to the bottle bank. They were very hurt that he pretended not to know them!

Sparklingbrook · 18/05/2020 11:01

Yessssssss!!!!!!!!

That feeling when they return is magical. So happy for you @Rldx2 Smile

HuggedTheRedwoods · 18/05/2020 11:12

Great update. If only they could talk!

Kaykay066 · 18/05/2020 11:16

My cat went AWOL for a week recently no sign of her spoke to neighbours put an appeal out locally but nothing then I happened to go out to my car one evening and she was on my doorstep v odd wondered where she went for that week was ravenous too. She used to get out with my ex but he left her outside all the time so I spoke to council to have them move here but kept her in and she was quite happy but snuck out that time. Door has been open since but she’s stayed inside quite happy to sleep all day. so glad your cat is home safe
