Haribo is missing

I never thought I would post here but my lovely 10 month old cat has gone missing. I last saw him yesterday at 2pm when I came in from work and he shot off. I've done all the necessary but I am petrified that he has become a victim to foxes.

My last but one cat was found dead with his ribcage ripped open and I've tortured myself for years that he wasn't involved in a rtc and then the foxes got him but he ended his life being ripped apart by them.

It took me 3 years after Troy died from Hypertropic Cardiomyopathy to let another animal into my life and now this has happened. I am beside myself.

This is Haribo 2 days ago.

Still nothing I'm afraid. I was calling him last night and one of his cat friends started walking towards me and then realised Haribo wasn't around. I can just imagine him and his mates would be sitting down together, socially distancing, and on hearing me call him he'd say "sorry boys, gotta go, my Mammy wants me". and off he'd shoot.

I'm exhausted walking around, not sleeping and eating and working 10 hours.

I'm glad that The Litter Tray have shared positive news about cats coming back but it's a massive worry. I've been in touch with someone locally who posted on the Cat's Protection page that his cat has gone missing a few days ago and he advised me that Mr Pickles came back at midnight.

I've got patients saying prayers and patients who live near me keeping an eye out too. I don't know what else I can do.

I'm hoping if someone has taken him they are NHS clappers and he might escape tonight.

Our Molly went for 6 months!! Found her sat under a tree at the very local shops!!
Dcats are bizarre op..
Retreat the same path every night op..
Once our dcat Jona managed to get home post rta and had a leg amputated and managed fine. Vet said us shouting kept him going enough to make it home.

You need to go door knocking to ask people to open their sheds/garages/greenhouses. Also posters and leaflets saying the same thing. However door knocking tends to be the most effective. You really have to do it today.

Hamsterian · 07/05/2020 15:00

I agree door knocking is the most effective. People will go and check on the spot. Do you live in an area with many houses? Have you put a note local Facebook groups, the Next door app? Also ring local vets

Toddlerteaplease · 07/05/2020 15:12

Some friends of mine have recently had their cat return after 4 years!

TroysMammy · 07/05/2020 18:56

Is door knocking allowed in the current climate? Suppose I knock the door of a Mumsnetter? They'll be posting in AIBU, AIBU not to answer my door to some random clutching a picture of a cat?

Posters up in the local shop and pharmacy, leaflets dropped, on Facebook Cats Protection and animals lost and found. On lamposts, on my fence, on Next Door, local Facebook page.

I think if you knock on the door then step 2m + back before they answer nobody would mind.

I certainly wouldn't given your circumstances.

Fluffycloudland77 · 07/05/2020 20:02

We’re answering the door more because we assume it’s important ie not a salesman.

HuggedTheRedwoods · 07/05/2020 20:06

Is he chipped? If not you could also email his photo to local vets in case anyone takes him to scan if found, I know people sometimes do that. He's only young so maybe just having an adventure around the local gardens now spring is in full flow. Sending positive thoughts your next update will be he's rocked back up like he's never been away.

Vinorosso74 · 07/05/2020 20:08

Yes door knocking is ok. Knock then step back. I really hope you find him.

Windyatthebeach · 07/05/2020 20:35

Email your local paper. They may put a nice article /notice in for free.
We have a local fb page for such things.
Make a sign for your gate..

TroysMammy · 07/05/2020 21:14

I'm not religious but could you do some type of prayer. I've heard a distressed cat miowing coming from a shed with a hole in the roof. Unfortunately there is no one there and one neighbour is obstructive and the other one aggressive. I'm on the phone to the RSPCA now.

So hope this leads somewhere Troysmammy

Fluffycloudland77 · 07/05/2020 21:26

I pray. There is nothing wrong with praying when your in trouble.

If you don’t ask you don’t get.

EachandEveryone · 07/05/2020 21:35

Is there anyone else you can phone? Fingers crossed you get him out.

Want2beme · 07/05/2020 22:00

Saying a prayer for you and Haribo. I hope it's him.

Defiantly41 · 07/05/2020 22:03

@Troysmammy praying for you and Haribo.

penguingorl · 07/05/2020 22:09

Everything crossed it's your boy! Doing super duper praying of the atheist kind 🙏

TroysMammy · 07/05/2020 22:20

It is him but we've sneaked in tresspassed but can't get in the shed. The RSPCA can only come out tomorrow.

Fluffycloudland77 · 07/05/2020 22:22

Oh thank god for that!.

SallyWD · 07/05/2020 22:22

So glad you've found him although you can't reach him. He'll be home safe and well soon. Poor thing and poor you.

catsears1 · 07/05/2020 22:28

Good luck Thanks

Windyatthebeach · 07/05/2020 22:28
