What is wrong with DCat1's chair?

2 DCats, each has their own chair in the kitchen (an arrangement they came to in early kittenhood, which incidentally we had no say in!)

We had a problem through the summer with DCat2's chair - she would not sit on it, no idea why. This was ultimately solved by moving the chair from one end of the kitchen table to the other, after which said chair became acceptable once again to DCat2.

Now DCat1 has a problem with his chair. Nothing has been done to it, but he refuses to sit on it. The chair is verboten. He won’t even use it after I’ve moved it from one end of the table to the other, as per DCat2.

I’ve suggested to DH (a priest) that he exorcises it, but apparently he’s not licensed for deliverance ministry, so that’s out. Meanwhile DCat1 is reduced to sitting forlornly on a padded envelope while his chair stands unused.

Anyone know what is wrong with DCat1's chair? I would rather like him to start using it again, life is much tidier when the DCats are on their chairs rather than strewn on the floor! Grin

That has to be a lie lordfrontpaw

No self respecting cat would eat decomposing bodies at a body farm. Everyone knows they'd carry some decomposing body part home, and eat it on the furniture/ carpet/ your clothes. Whichever is most inconvenient. And then leave the most repugnant part right where you'll step in it.

Cat in the bath and cat on the table using a pack of baby wipes as a pillow

his favourite hobby is breaking into the bathroom and snuggling the bath mat to death.

This being The Litter Tray, rather than AIBU, you are able to reveal your DCat1’s hobbies. On AIBU when I read posts complaining about husbands or partners spending too much time or money on their hobby but the poster doesn’t reveal the hobby in case it is too ‘outing’, I sometimes try to guess what this time consuming or expensive hobby is. (Usually cycling). Now whenever I read posts like this, I am going to imagine the errant husband or partner snuggling up on the bath mat or trying to squeeze under a chest of drawers.

Ahh this has properly cheered up my morning, thank you! My Dcats rotate around their favourite spots - I recently reorganised furniture in my conservatory and they have deigned to choose a new spot each in there...

My ironing board is now furniture as it has to stay up permanently, it is DC2s favourite place to be in the world. Here he is with DC2 who sadly can't get up there poor girl.
I like to call it my multi storey cat park 😄

@nettie434 I snorted so loudly at this that I woke the baby 😂

Update:

DCat1 has clearly been reading MN, as this evening he suddenly decided that he wants a chair again. Not his old chair, of course, but the spare human chair.

His sister is somewhat dubious about this idea…

Dubious, or deciding to pinch his new chair?

Hope the baby went back to sleep quickly. Agree that DCat1 has been reading Mumsnet. He did not realise that he had been sitting on a broken ‘cat chair’ or that a padded envelope was not a special cat mat. Now his eyes have been opened, he wants a superior human chair.
