New kitten - too soon?

Hi,

This is my first post on here but I'm just wanting to gather thoughts.

I had to have my 17 year old cat Bella pts last fri due to a very sudden possible stroke /neurological issue. She was the last of my 3 cats & had been an only cat for her final 2 years which she loved. She came to me at 4.5 mths, rehomed through a local charity who rehome feral kittens.

Up until yesterday I was adamant that I would not consider a pair of kittens until after Christmas & then approach the charity I adopted her from to pursue adoption.

However, yesterday I have been asked if I would like to rehome an 11 wk old kitten. A friends daughter has moved back home & is not taking care of her kitten (brought with her when she moved back home)leaving the care to her mum. Mum already has several cats & 2 dogs & has asked if I would like to have the kitten.

The kitten is the same colour as Bella & has flea & worm treatments already. I will be at home until the new year as I lost my job late November. I hope to be back in work January. The plan I now have is to adopt a kitten companion from the rescue organisation.

Am I completely barmy? Logic tells me to wait but in reality I live by myself & miss having the company & something to look after. I would only need to buy kitten food.

Any constructive feedback would be appreciated.Smile

Hi,

Crimbo was lovely with Milly. She spent Chridtmas day & part of boxing day with myself & the parents, even staying overnight. My dad loved having her there & between them they managed to demolish her new fishing rod toy!😂 He even carried her out into "his" garden for a guided tour! She was initially shut in the conservatory whilst we tucked into Christmas dinner but made such a racket that she was allowed back in to tuck into a small bit of prawn mousse & 2 half chipolata sausages. She developed quite the little friendship with "grandad" but mother not overly keen as shes frightened of kittens. Overall thoroughly spoilt.

Today shes in the doghouse a bit. Shes finally brought my 6 ft tree down. Not one to do things by halves shes smashed my glass ornament brought back from a Gernan Christmas market by the parents & damaged my tv aerial cable in the process! I now have no tv channels! But I wouldn't be without her now despite my forgetting what little sods kittens are! GrinXmas Wink

Aww, she is lovely. It sounds like she has found a wonderful home. I always think the right cat will come to you at the right time if you are a cat lover. There's nothing like a kitten for wrecking your house, though! They leave puppies standing!
