Hello, has anyone noticed their cats becoming suddenly very lazy these past few days? My two are out all the time generally but have definitely slowed down

I think the fireworks have ruffled ours , we bring them in before they kick off (hopefully it'll all tail off now)

They still prowl round the catdoor when it's locked .
They sleep 90% of the day (typical)

Our female came in with a tiny raindrops in her fur , like glitter Grin then tore upstairs to dry herself on DD bed .

NonUrinatInVentum · 10/11/2019 09:33

Yes. Mine don't want to go outside and are sleeping/lazing more. It's pretty normal though, they do it at the same time every year Smile

Adollop · 10/11/2019 09:36

Yes, two of mine wanted to be outdoors all the time in summer, but now can't be bothered at all, just sleep all day.

LittleCandle · 10/11/2019 09:41

Yeah, I used to judge the weather on DCat2's behaviour. If he was inside, the weather was going to be pants. I do miss them. DCat1 would go outside to sleep if the weather was nice, but otherwise only went out when it was necessary...

Every winter we think Old Lady Cat is very very old now and not up to much.

And then spring comes with the warmer weather and Old Lady Cat suddenly turns into a new cat and bounces around like a different beast.

There is no excuse for Silky Cat who is only 2 though and would spend her whole life under the duvet, even in summer. We think she is faulty Grin

SingingLily · 10/11/2019 09:50

I think cats respond to natural light...and the birds chattering. There's a dearth of both at the moment so there's nothing to watch on Cat TV (a-k-a the front window). Might as well sleep Smile

RandomMess · 10/11/2019 09:56

Mine is scared of frostbite on her nose apparently...

RandomMess · 10/11/2019 09:58

Photo won't upload Sad

RickOShay · 10/11/2019 10:06

Try again @RandomMess Grin
The world needs more cat photos

Oh yes. Ern usually sleeps until we get home, then from about 4/5 ish till late evening is outside (well in, out, in, out)

The last few days he's not been waking up till nearly 6 then goes out for ashort while then is straight in, goes out again for a short time. He's been tucked up in the house form way before 8. In the past Ive had to spend ages trying to get him in when it's bedtime. He's even had a few nights left out.

Only thing is on Friday he was desperate to go out at 11.30pm but I wouldn't budge for the bed. He gave up and used the litetr tray for the first time in years

RamsayBoltonsConscience · 10/11/2019 10:34

Oh yes, this is the default setting at the moment! She's here when I go to work and still here when I get home.

We haven't had an Ern photo for a while ...

I remember not last winter but the one before where his nibs had a path cut for him in the snow and hot water poured on his toilet spot.

Jayneisagirlsname · 10/11/2019 10:43

Sir Maximus spends 90% of the day like this at the moment...

Glad to read this. Bit worried about one of mine as (in addition to sleeping more,) he seems "quiet" and his normally fluffy expressive tail is a bit down and "thin". He's eating well but i might get him checked out tomorrow just in case #worrier

@Vixenmum76 totally normal to be sleeping inside more. My 4 have been inside regularly for about a week now. Is he still eating normally? Here's a pic of my youngest

He is eating normally thank you @nearlyfinished1moreyear. Am such a worrier. My husband thinks I am losing the plot! I'll try and get a pic of my fluffster. Your baby is very sweet:)

Snorg has suddenly gone very cuddly, sitting on my head and cuddling up right next to me.

Grumpyoldpersonwithcats · 10/11/2019 12:35

Winter has definitely arrived. Competing for lap space.

Yup, it's sleep til I come home, say hi, then out in the dark for a few hours. And many pop in and outs in the rain, accompanied by complaints to us for not making it stop.

Our boy is quite new to us but he's made himself at home on our laps or on the chest next to the radiator. We only opened the cat flap this week and if it's cold he pokes his head out and sniffs then looks at me like it's my fault Hmm

Mine is more sleepy, and has stiffened up a bit (she’s 16 now) so not happy that we are limiting outdoor time at night/early hours (dp is a lorry driver so up early and she would normally go out with him).
Will have to look for some COD liver oil/glucosamine for her

Foslady · 10/11/2019 23:31

Oh - and she’s eating and drinking as normal so putting it down to the cold/rain

Foslady · 11/11/2019 05:30

Hmmmm..........think we ought to go to the vets, get things checked out Sad

sashh · 11/11/2019 06:55

Mine has moved from the set top box to the radiator.

If I'd let her then she would keep most of her body inside and her nose out in the cold.

She is a bit put out that I have closed the bedroom window so she has to ask to go out. And I will only let her in/out the room I am in (bungalow all windows open to outside) and i won't walk to another room because she wants to go out that way.

I'm cruel.

Foslady · 11/11/2019 11:51

Putting Foscat’s stiffness down to arthritis (vet soon realised trying to get bloods from her would probably require danger money.......we love her to bits but she has serious cattitude unfortunately.....)
