The litter tray

These are my latest foster kittens. They were found in a skip this morning. One of them was so cold his temperature didn’t register on the thermometer. All that was needed was a phone call, a text or a message and we would have picked them up, why put them in a skip to die instead?

Big news, at least one of them has been out for a poo! Near the litter tray as well. Somebody has had a little dig in the tray but obviously the carpet was more inviting to actually poo.

Poor little things. You are an absolute legend for taking them in and taking care of them ❤️ Fingers crossed you’ll get some food and water down them today.

Well the carpet is more comfortable for tiny paws than kitty litter, you can’t fault their thinking. I’d put some puppy pads down.

How were they found?

They could have chosen the large towel that the tray is sitting on, rather than the carpet Smile but that’s how it goes. It’s not the worst thing that’s happened to this carpet!

I don’t know all the details of how they were found but they were brought to the vet by a worker in a scrapyard (wrapped in his overalls), they’d been found in a box in the skip at the yard.

No excuse whatsoever of course for dumping them in a skip where they would most likely die (and I have sent very bad karma thoughts out for the dumpee) but some areas just dont have rescues ready able to help or respond to a call or a text.

If there's no rescue available, wtf not at least leave them somewhere they'd be sure to be found eg outside a pub? ConfusedAngry

Now they’re having a little mutual grooming session, dying of cuteness.

The point is, people should be neutering their pets so no rescues are needed. As pps have said, it's possible for you to get your cat neutered cheaply via many charities - or if you choose a rescue adult cat, it will come ready-neutered. If you can't afford to neuter the pet, even at a reduced rate, you probably can't afford the pet, full stop.

I know that the people who do this sort of thing probably aren’t aware but my rescue can always find somewhere for kittens. We were practically fighting over them yesterday!

@ErrolTheDragon Keep your faces to yourself - I clearly said it is no excuse!

And neither would be dumping outside a pub! And neither is moving house and leaving three beautiful cats behind for someone (like me!) to run themselves into the ground trying to look after them while looking for a good rescue that doesnt fucking exist at the drop of a hat.

But unfortunately it’s a squirty bottom situation, which combined with long hair is not a happy thing.

My faves were at incomprehension of people who'd put kittens in a skip.
Yes, of course there's really no excuse for anything other than the choice of be a responsible pet owner or don't have any,

They’re so adorable.

We emergency adopted a couple of kits from friends recently.

Friend couldn’t cope, we took kits to the vets, the vets asked me where I’d got three week old kits from 😱

Friend had bought them, and had decided to re-home the kittens rather than return them to the breeder, as she thought the breeder was being really aggressive.

The kits are gorgeous and doing really well with us now. But I felt really heartbroken to be told how young they’d been taken from their mum (probably not helped by the fact I’m on maternity leave with a baby currently).

Some people are just utterly evil. Friend did report breeder to rspca as they were putting more and more kittens for sale add up.

Do they let you handle them op? I mean, without spitting and trying to get away?

They might not have been irresponsibly bred by the person who dumped them. They might have got the kittens/been given the kittens/ their DC or partner came home with them./ got them off some b;oke in a pub?

Maybe didn't realise how much work these two little babies were and CBA responsibly re-homing .

One thing is for sure , even though ALL the advice is Don't Buy Pets As Presents , after Christmas there will be more , and sadly a lot of older pets that are dumped in favour of the newbies .

Flickety your black cats are gorgeous , how the heck do you tell the three of them apart?
I have two black panthers and usually say "Oh hello" so as not to offend by mis-intendifying them Blush

I can handle them, they don’t like it but there’s been no hissing at all. More worryingly no eating either.

One of them is eating tuna, big relief. Probably not the best thing for a tiny tummy but better than nothing.

So pleased they’re eating something.

They were incredibly lucky to be found by the bloke before the skip got emptied - such tiny little things with tiny little voices!

It’s absolutely unfathomabke to me how anyone can leave defence little creatures even to fend for themselves, but to put them somewhere they’re likely to be really hurt & not found, is just beyond all comprehension. As someone said, even in a box outside a pub would be something. Church/school/vets/rescue...so many places where someone would take care of them if it was beyond their wit to take them to a rescue.

Bastard. Hope he (or she, but likely not) gets some serious payback in life.

...and 🍺 for the bloke & his overalls!

And now the other one is eating too. I wonder if tuna is the only thing they’ve had before everything else was treated like poison.
