Collecting him at 9am!

Litter tray, scoop, litter, mat

Food bowl and food, some treats
Water bowl

Feliway plug in (when should I get this up and running? Tonight?)

Toys

Scratch posts and mat

A few beds dotted around

Cosy blanket

Vet booked for Monday.

Is it worth getting any kind of flea treatment in case he's got them on arrival (I'm nervous about this).

Carrier to collect him in

So excited!

Looks like you've got everything sorted, I would ask the vet about flea treatment as you will need to know his weight and they will be able to give him something safe as well as a wormer, he may already have been treated with his previous owner so check first!

bodgeitandscarper · 25/10/2019 15:07

Oh forgot to say congratulations and enjoy!

Winterdaysarehere · 25/10/2019 15:09

You missed 'another dkitten' off your list...

sableandI · 25/10/2019 15:40

How exciting. I'd wait until you go to the vets for the flea treatment. Sounds like your ready for your new arrival Smile

RockinHippy · 25/10/2019 21:26

Other than a cardboard box (if you're new to cats, you'll understand soon) that sounds perfect. Though maybe as a kitten, a fluffy hot water bottle might be nice for them too.

RockinHippy · 25/10/2019 21:27

& Congratulations, 😊

goldpendant · 25/10/2019 21:44

Thanks!

Like another poster earlier, can I just check whether food and water bowls are too close to litter....? It's only for a few days as the bed area is at the other end of the kitchen, when we move that into the lounge the food and water will be well away from litter tray.

If these are too close I'll find somewhere else for the bed!

Hi,

Yes, they are a bit close together. Cats are clean animals & you might find it won't use tge litter tray if they are too close together

thecatneuterer · 25/10/2019 23:09

I think that for a few days that's ok

goldpendant · 25/10/2019 23:14

Thanks ok I'll just move the food to somewhere else in the kitchen for a few days.

How old is the kitten?

goldpendant · 25/10/2019 23:21

13 weeks maybe 14

Can you ask if the kitten has had flea treatment?
Where are you getting it from?

Dont get "spot on" they sell it everywhere but doesnt work, the vet confirmed this too

goldpendant · 25/10/2019 23:34

It hasn't been. It's from an apprentice at work and I know she hasn't been able to afford to have it treated.

What I have for my girl is a hooded litter tray. She used to scratch her litter so much it went on the floor! We use wood pellet litter as that's what we use for our other girl (rabbit). I find it keeps the smell down and is so much easier to clean! But you look like you have it covered! We tried Flea spot on but now we get it from our vets as it lasts 3 months and we get wormer too. We never got a feliway but she has never needed it.

Pepperama · 25/10/2019 23:39

camera and stiff drink at the ready! The first few days were hilarious but exhausting. How do you get a kitten down from the top of the wardrobe? OMG he’s brought down the curtain. Rats where is he off to now (found nooks and crannies in our house we’d never known about)? Nooooooo, that plant pot is not your litter tray. And get that paw out of the printer daft cat, you can’t fish the paper out whilst it’s printing! Enjoy, it’s so precious!

goldpendant · 26/10/2019 00:17

Eeeek - and how long will this bonkers business go on for?? When can he be left alone for an hour or two?!

OP posts:
OctoberLovers · 26/10/2019 00:19

Hopefully kitten has been wormed atleast 4 times already but make sure you ask.
Kitten will have to be wormed every 4 weeks, till its 6 months old.
Then every 3 months.

Please please get the kitten done.
And encourage your work colleague to get her mum cat done.

Spray bottle to fill with water to skoosh the kitten when it climbs the curtains!

My kitty wanted to be held constantly for the first week, but you will be fine leaving it alone for short periods of time right from the beginning.

1300cakes · 26/10/2019 03:52

Don't forget to make room on your phone for all the pics you'll need to take!

Pepperama · 26/10/2019 20:26

How’s it going? Are you, kitten 🐈 and house all alive and well?

goldpendant · 27/10/2019 06:32

Posted on another board but he's here, he's gorgeous and hasn't trashed anything, yet! He's confined to the kitchen, just until tomorrow when we've been to the vet then the house is his 🤣
