I need a handhold- cat badly injured

Today is my birthday. We went out for a few hours, came home to find our cat under the bush at the front. He came out so can walk but his face is ripped to pieces, his eye is badly injured, he was clicking and breathing very strangely. The poor little thing absolutely stunk of blood. He was still purring when we stroked him. My dh and mil have taken him to the emergency vets- but I think it will be the worst :( I'm alone with my toddler and baby and can't stop crying, poor, poor little thing :(

Oh yay!!!! Oh am thrilled OP. Bless him, so glad Dobby coming home! How are the bunnies? And how are you?

Fusioluxe · 31/01/2019 00:48

Deep breath and as to your bunnies.

How long before DH is home?

Fusioluxe · 31/01/2019 00:48

That should say see to your bunnies..

CatsPawsAndWhiskers · 31/01/2019 00:51

That's such good news. Poor Dobby having a fractured jaw though. Will he be able to eat normally?

How are your rabbits?

thegrinningfox · 31/01/2019 00:53

So so pleased.

EachandEveryone · 31/01/2019 01:03

Did the vet say what caused it? Can you cat proof your garden?

LLOE7 · 31/01/2019 02:17

Bunnies are absolutely fine, bouncy around like anything :) their hutch and run set up is very very secure so I think I was just overly panicking while so emotional- but you never know what might happen unfortunately.
The vet said it looks like Dobby ran into a moving car! Photo is of him a few weeks ago and at the moment- still purring away!

I have to take him to our regular vets first thing in the morning for an X-ray and possible pin in his jaw, and then will be able to feed him mushed up wet food. He was sat waiting by his food bowl for an hour before giving up and going to lay down :(

The 'clicking' and strange breathing that sounded so awful was because his nose was completely blocked with blood and gunk- as soon as the vet cleared and cleaned it he was back to normal again thankfully.

So pleased Dobby is ok, and your bunnies too, I hope he will enjoy a long life of being spoilt by parents who obviously adore him x

BBInGinDrinking · 31/01/2019 02:36

What a relief! 😻

InSightMars · 31/01/2019 02:40

Oh so glad I rtft, It sounds like he’s going to be fine. I was so upset for you, it’s horrible when your beloved pet is sick or injured, and of course I was also worried for little Dobby. Poor little guy, he’s such a cutie, I hope he recovers really quickly.

MrsCatE · 31/01/2019 02:42

Yay!!! Great news he's still with us but poor Dobby re fractured jaw and poor you and DH re after care! Mine had 6 weeks cage rest; don't think poor Dobby will need that but you'll have your work cut out. Better that than alternative! Flowersx

PinkSparklyPussyCat · 31/01/2019 07:01

Poor Dobby, I'm so glad he's ok.

My cat had a fractured jaw 3 years ago. His jaw had to be wired and he got over it really well - he was actually eating dry food while he still had the wire in (with the vet's permission as he wouldn't eat anything else)! They are pretty tough.

Let us know how he's getting on.

HeronLanyon · 31/01/2019 07:02

Absolutely brilliant news. Feel so happy for you. Dobbie is so lovely looking and I’m pleased you Bonny Blum you bunnies are all ok.
Good luck with the rehab/care/mushy food situation!

HeronLanyon · 31/01/2019 07:03

‘Your bonny bouncy bunnies’ that was meant to say - how embarrassing to have to write it twice ! New resolution is to use preview more.

Tolleshunt · 31/01/2019 07:57

I'm so pleased Dobby will be ok. Great news!!

He is truly gorgeous! Hope he is fighting fit again very soon.

Vinorosso74 · 31/01/2019 08:14

What an awful shock that must have been. Am pleased he'll be ok (and your bunnies are fine). Dobby is very cute-love his nose!

HeronLanyon · 31/01/2019 08:39

Dobby is amazing looking. Just went back to look at his photo. Love his bow tie !he’s still got a few lives up his sleeve really hope he manages to eat, poor little sausage.

sweetkitty · 31/01/2019 09:12

So glad he is ok xx

I’m currently looking at ways to car proof my garden as I want my kittens to have a wee bit of freedom but we live next to a road where idiots fly up and down at 50mph 😩

Honeyroar · 31/01/2019 13:00

Brilliant news that all are ok. One of my cats ran into a moving car too a few years ago and came in bloody with a snapped fang. The plus side of that is he’s really scared of cars now and stays well away from the lane if he hears a vehicle coming.

Lala503 · 31/01/2019 13:14

I was just going to say the same thing. Our lovely boy got hit by a car when he was barely a year old- however now he's absolutely terrified of cars and runs a mile if he hears one.
I am hoping his brush with danger (whilst horrible at the time) means he'll be with me until he's a ripe old age Smile

AfterSchoolWorry · 31/01/2019 15:12

I'm delighted Dobby is ok! Great news, good work by the vet! 😃🐈 💜

Smotheroffive · 31/01/2019 18:08

One of mine also learnt the very hard way about cars, and had the same/very similar issues with front/side face glancing blow type injuries, but broke a leg too. Lost some front teeth, broken top and bottom canines (felines!?).

Your little Dobby is very stealable cute, and sweet. So glad it all worked out, I would be spooning mushed up up favs into side of mouth! Lovely yo see photos.

Wish little Dobby speedy recovery and many safe years of happiness!
