Ragdoll cats/kittens

Hello all, please tell me about your lovely ragdoll kitties. I
am insanely excited to be planning on getting a kitten sometime next year! I am a huge cat lover and we always had them growing up however in adulthood I've never been able to persuade dp..but the last 6 months or so he has warmed to the idea (and dare I say, he seems quite excited when we speak about it).
We've decided on a ragdoll and I've utterly fallen in love with them!
Anyway due to a planned move in January we are going to wait so that the kitty can settle into one home and not have to go through the move. But I can hardly contain my happiness, I feel like an expectant mother 😂 so while I'm stuck in limbo please tell me everything about your ragdoll so I can live vicariously through you (definitely include photos 😁) also does anyone have any advice on how to go about finding a breeder, I've never been through the process of finding pedigree breeders and don't know where to start 🤔

I'm watching with interest as I have recently fallen in love with Ragdolls.

So my two are quite different characters but they both have some of the characteristics that Ragdolls are known for.
They love to chase a ball of rolled up silver foil. They follow me around. Alfie is a bit 'needy' in a whingy way. Lulu is a sweet natured and shy girl. I'll try and upload a photo of her.

They need alot of brushing. Alot.

They're 9 years old and I had them since they were 13 weeks old.

Do it! I have a rescue moggy and a 1 year old Raggie, they're best friends. All the advice on the Ragdoll Facebook groups says to get two because they're really playful and sociable, it is so lovely to see them play together so maybe consider that?

Mine is a chocolate seal point, I love them all especially the mitted ones with the little white toes! Also I would highly recommend investing in a lint roller

My raggy is coming up to 8 now.

She's beautiful and she knows it. Very, very vocal, which is a common trait in them. Affectionate and trusting to a fault. She loves to show off her beauty to visitors.

She's far more work than her moggy brother though.

pepper in what way do you mean your raggy is harder? Is it just the the extra grooming, and the fact that they like a lot of human attention? Neither of which I mind (am very happy to oblige with it lol) but I want to get a better idea 😊

maple is your moggy the same age as your raggy?

Also, how did you go about finding your ragdoll? Do I do a google search for registered ragdoll breeders in my region? Then email them to find out whether they are likely to expect a litter?

I did a search on a Ragdoll cat site and found a breeder that way. Still had to travel a bit though.

My raggy is 12, although still seems to think he's a kitten. He's a housecat, likes it that way and gets involved in anything happening in his home. Great with visitors...waiting to see how he is with our first baby who will be arriving shortly. He's already put out that the Moses basket is not for him.

He grooms himself a lot but doesn't have as many hairballs now as he used to. Goes crazy around catnip and loves a good window seat or a high spot to perch and watch us.

We were very fortunate as he was a rescue. We got him just before he turned 3. Would love to have known him as a kitten though. Great breed and fits in perfectly with us.

I've got rescue Persians. So you could try a breed rescue. (Persians are so much better than Ragdolls IMHO!)

Persians are very fluffy and lovely but I do have my heart set on a raggy, they sound so sweet and gentle! What is your Persian like, do they tend to have a similar temperament? (Is also love to see a pic of yours lol)

A rescue is actually a good idea too, I've reached out to a few breeders now to find out more (although no reply yet) but I will also search for any raggy rescues around my region! I have another question if someone wouldn't mind answering? I know that raggy's are a large breed but I've only seen pictures so can't get an accurate image in my head, so would I need an especially large litter tray? I was planning on getting one with a roof and am now thinking it might be a bit cramped

We have a tortie Persian who is lovely. She needs grooming but she is a really sweet natured cat. My impression of Persians is that they are more self contained than rag dolls but there is lots of variation in a breed. Both my Maine Coons were a bit bonkers and very large.

My first two Persians are/were pillows that breathe. Very laid back, and affectionate. Absolutely lovely girls. Although very timid because of their awful background. Sadly Maia died in August. Her sister has blossomed with my new Persian exotic. Who is also calm and laid back and extremely affectionate. She behaves slightly more like a cat! Ragdolls just don't appeal to me for some reason. Don't know why.
