We have a 1 year old neutered male cat very friendly mostly likes to stay indoors he'll go out to toilet and comes in then I see never far away , every night when kids are gone to bed he Will sit on my husbands knee if I had him he'll just go overt to him I'm the 1 who feeds him etc, it drives me mad we have a female also she hates everyone only sits on our knee if she's wet or cold. This is light hearted I'm just wondering

I think cats definitely have a favourite person. I've got 2 cats, one spends all of his time near me, waits for me when I get home and is generally very clingy. He will only hang out with my partner I'm out.

The other one loves my partner and sprints out of rooms when I walk in.

I've learnt not to take it personally, but it took a while!

Thewindsofchange · 16/11/2018 19:05

Our cat is like my shadow. Grin
I luffs him.

Dollymixture22 · 16/11/2018 19:17

My childhood cat loved my dad - who wasn’t that bothered! I remember being jealous that she would follow him about, and nor acknowledge the hours I spent playing with her😼

CrookedMe · 16/11/2018 19:18

Ours does.

He'll only sit on my knee. If I have to be away for a week for work he'll sit on DH, then ditch him when I get home Grin

Itsear · 16/11/2018 20:46

I think that some cats don’t like being stroked a lot but like a warm lap, those type of cats will sit on the person that is least likely to fuss them.

hazeydays14 · 16/11/2018 20:48

Yes. DP is the favourite despite the fact I feed her and remember to change her litter! Grin

Mums cat will sit on any man who goes to the house before going to her or my sister! Not sure why, there were never many men around before my mum met her partner in the last 2yrs.

Herja · 16/11/2018 20:49

Mine does. It's my grandad (who is the favourite human of almost everyone who knows him in fairness). He will even tolerate the hoover to be in the same room as him rather than hide under my bed. It makes me sulk; I should get to be the favoured human! Cat does like me more than anyone else in the house, but just not as much as Grandad...

MrsMrsMrsMrs · 16/11/2018 20:56

One of our cats has DD(9) as her favourite. DH and I are the ones that feed her, but DD is so lovely and gentle with her. She sleeps on her bed a lot of the day and night, goes to find her if she’s in another part of the house and sits sadly outside her bedroom door if it’s shut. They have a lovely little relationship.

NotTheQueen · 17/11/2018 23:01

Cats definitely have favourite humans. Number 2 was supposed to be mine but he’s definitely Daddys boy.

DramaAlpaca · 17/11/2018 23:02

Our cat loves DS21 more than anyone else. I come a distant second.

gamerwidow · 17/11/2018 23:05

Definitely, one cat loves DD which is great because I wanted her to have a pet who was really close to her. The other cat prefers DH which is unfair because he is an arse and doesn’t even really like him whereas I luf him and he doesn’t care. Cats are funny sods.

Yes, this is definitely the case with the car and DH.

trinitybleu · 17/11/2018 23:09

Definitely....

Cat 1 is mine. Always has been. Cuddles up to me and hides her head under my chin. Currently sat on my pillow and pawing my hair gently.
Cat 2 is his. Was a stray. Sat on his chest one day, his shadow ever since.
Cat 3 is mine at 5am when she's lonely. Otherwise pretty independent.
Cat 4 is DD's. Follows her like a shadow, herds her up to bed, will only respond to her voice.
Cat 5 is a new stray that's moved in. Seems to be favouring him (probably as he's the one who feeds them)

MrsCatE · 17/11/2018 23:12

Yup. Bastard cat lurvves my husband. He was a tiny kitten when we adopted him. His mum was a feral.

Cat immediately imprinted on husband and barely tolerates me. However, when I'm ill he acts vey concerned and does seek me out. I've had some sort of DV thing for 24 hours and he's behaving oddly and actually came over and licked my head - probably tasted salty but I took it as sign that he vaguely cares.

My last hospital stay was 7 days. On my return I stayed in the spare bedroom and cat actually slept with me for first couple of nights! However, he established base camp at bottom corner of bed and didn't even touch let alone sleep on me, sigh. I take what I can get!

Ollivander84 · 17/11/2018 23:44

Yep. My cat is definitely mine, he plonked himself in my lap 10 mins after I collected him from cats protection
He hates 99% of men, likes small children but is all over me Grin

Toddlerteaplease · 19/11/2018 11:00

My parents cat adores my dad. He licks his ears and glasses. When he was away overnight Mithril slept in my dads spot.

Do cats have a favourite human?
prismWitch · 19/11/2018 11:56

Mine are two big sucks, and they adopted whole neighbourhood. I am leaving with fear that somebody will steal them as they are very friendly and will sell their souls for cuddles and attention.

At home however they are both mommy boys and will follow me from room to room. Ginger one will heard me to living room, with miaowing and will wait until I sit on sofa. Then both him and his black brother will place themselves on me and demad cuddles until bed time.

Husband needs to keep me hydrated and bring me cups of tea, as both hands and lap are catnapped Grin

Caggie09 · 19/11/2018 11:59

Yes, and its not meSad

NoCanoe · 19/11/2018 12:14

Yes. And it's me.
But the dog is a daddy's boy.
It works......

driggle · 19/11/2018 12:17

Our cat loves me. She'll only sit on me, sleeps curled up to me every night and waits for me at the window for when I come home. Despite DP feeding her every morning she hisses at him whenever he walks past her and she chases DS's ankles when he walks in the living room. To me she's like a little angel. And oddly whenever my dad comes to visit, which is probably every couple of months, she'll rub against his legs and completely fuss over him.

gotmybigbootson · 19/11/2018 12:19

YES! One of our cats HATES Dh and ds but adores me. He only comes out when they're gone.

The other one used to loved Dh more than me but I've been giving him more belly rubs than Dh recently so the fickle bastard has transferred his affection.

pisspawpatrol · 19/11/2018 12:20

I have the same with our cat. She was adopted as a pet for me, but she adores my husband. She thinks he's the best thing since tinned tuna was invented and she definitely loves him more than she loves me.

I work from home and she will ignore me most of the day, but as soon as my husband comes home from work she follows him about, will shout for his attention and sits on his knee most evenings. I'm lucky if she sits on the back of the sofa and swats me on the head with her tail. She also gets really excited when he gets in bed and will scale the duvet to get to him.

I'm extremely jealous.

YesItsMeIDontCare · 19/11/2018 12:21

I am No.1 Hooman in this house 😁.

gotmybigbootson · 19/11/2018 12:21

DH adores the cat that hates him. Rescued him as a feral kitten and had him almost 5 years when I moved in. Now the cats hisses at DH and tries to kill him if Dh so much as looks at him.

The dog, who dh dislikes and I love, likes dh much more than me.

Animals are massive assholes.

HappyGoodHairBear · 19/11/2018 12:23

Yes. All of them, all of them in the whole wide world, like me best. Out of all people. I am the darling of all cats.*

*I would love that.
