Any way to stop excessive biscuit making?

Cheddar likes to sleep on my bed at night. and if I move she likes to make biscuits on my face and neck. ( trying to squash my trachea is a particular favourite). I dot mind it a bit but it's excessive and quite uncomfortable. If I move her she still comes back. Shutting her downstairs isn't a
Practical option because of the house layout.
Any suggestions? I need some sleep!

Mine loves my carer's beard. She will make biscuits and clean his beard for him all day if he's let her.

mothertominibeasts · 08/10/2018 10:26

Ah ok now I know what making biscuits means Smile mine do this but they use their claws aswell and it hurts!

I like the kneeding but can't be doing with nails so sadly I have to ask them to stop

Otterseatpuffinsdontthey · 08/10/2018 10:26

Cheddar is gorgeous! Photo looks familiar - have you posted it before?

Toddlerteaplease · 08/10/2018 10:30

When I went to the rescue to visit Cheddar she made biscuits on me. I discovered the scratched the next morning! Her claws are kept very short now. She's such an affectionate little thing, it's really sweet but actually quite painful on my neck/ face. Her favourite place!

Yes. She's had numerous posts.

She's grounded at the minute for escaping out of the garden last week!

Toddler I met this fella today and thought of you. He is very friendly and soft.

God you just be mad. It'd be an ex cat if it woke me up three times in the night (joke. Sort of Grin)

I don't allow mine upstairs at night. She is closed away in the living room and just sleeps curled up on the sofa. Cats don't have human type feelings so don't worry about her feeling usurped. If you secretly don't mind being woken up then just crack on as she won't stop anytime soon I doubt

Ski37 · 08/10/2018 23:01

My cat does this to me all the time when he’s happy/ relaxed / enjoying being stroked/ wants to be stroked . It’s like a reflex he can’t help.

I was also given the advice of ‘tapping’ the paws gently when they do this- it didn’t work .... in fact it’s the only time my cat has growled at me 🙀

Toddlerteaplease · 08/10/2018 23:33

@Vinorosso74 he's gorgeous!
I've invested in some vapour rub so will give that a try. It's my other cat I don't want to shut out as she likes to sleep under the bed and never disturbs me.

I don't think there's any way to stop them - my kneaders have always been kneaders, the ones who don't never did. I've heard it's to do with how they got on with suckling from mothercat, but shrug

Toddlerteaplease · 09/10/2018 01:46

I don't Mind kneading during the day through clothes. It's just on my face and neck it is quite painful! And I really don't need waking up for it!

Cheddar pretty little girl! I love smushed face kitties!

Unfortunately there likely isn't much you can do. Although if she likes soft things you might get her a fleecy blanket or something and you can redirect her to pussyfoot that instead.

mumonashoestring · 09/10/2018 06:54

How did you get on with the Vick? Asking because we used to have a cat that thought the stuff was crack and would spend the whole night trying to get into your pyjamas and lick your chest if you had it on you Grin Little weirdos...

Toddlerteaplease · 09/10/2018 08:00

I've not tried the Vicks yet as on nights. Will report back when I get up tonight. I tried putting her personalised blanket, that of course she won't touch, on the pillow. But snorg sat on that instead. It's so weird having a cat that 'cats'. Neither Fatty or Snorg had/have a clue!!

OP posts:
Toddlerteaplease · 09/10/2018 08:01

Might try a towel. Fatty adored the texture and would always knead them.

Count yourself lucky. My biscuit maker weighs 35kg.

Toddlerteaplease · 09/10/2018 08:48

Well I'm touched up in bed with her and the Vicks in situ. She's sitting on my chest but no sign of any baking going on as yet!

I assume you mean tucked up but have fun either way :)

Toddlerteaplease · 09/10/2018 17:21

Well there have been no biscuits today. I woke up with her curled up on my crummy abs I had no idea.Hopefully it's as a result of the Vicks! She was looking very puzzled this morning.

OP posts:
Toddlerteaplease · 12/10/2018 13:33

Well the Vicks has had no effect. Could someone please inform the little madam that she is supposed to hate eucalyptus!

“Making biscuits” is all wrong. It’s bread which has to be kneaded, not biscuit dough, which needs minimal handling.
Call it kneading and we’d know what you mean.

Toddlerteaplease · 15/10/2018 22:20

Everyone round here calls it making biscuits.

CaptainCabinets · 31/10/2018 14:30

Mine makes biscuits out of DP’s beard Grin

hugoagogo · 31/10/2018 14:43

I think it might be the American kind of biscuits that they are kneading?
I lock our puss downstairs at night, it's bad enough havingng to share with dh!
