Help! I've curried my cat..

Any ideas on how to remove curry stains from cat fur??

Made a curry last night and because I'm a slattern I was tired, left the dishes in the sink. My girl, despite having a perfectly decent water bowl, obviously decided that wasn't good enough and has somehow managed to get the oily residue off soaking dishes, onto her white fur.

I came down this morning to find curry paw prints on the couch and orange oily body blobs where she's been sitting/laying down. She hates her tum being touched, so have tried to towel her off. Is there anything I can do to get this off her? Or just nature take its course and she'll wash herself of it, eventually? My couch on the other hand..

Help! I've curried my cat..

Sorry, no advice but I aloft dost my drink out laughing! GrinGrin

Toddlerteaplease · 24/07/2018 11:22

Almost spat!

HappyEverIftar · 24/07/2018 12:08

The picture doesn't do justice as to how orange her belly fur is! She seems happy enough and when she lets me get near her tum, the orange residue isn't transferring onto anything else, at least that's something.

Hmm Grin

Can you just change her name to Mossalla?

HappyEverIftar · 24/07/2018 12:17

Ooh I like that Smile

We've stained our cat too by using oil granules for litter - orange paws are now a permanent feature!

Bath her/washing up liquid or baby shampoo? If that's too distressing and it's not transferring I'd leave it

Readyfortheschoolhols · 24/07/2018 12:22

Once spilled Mossalla sauce on new kitchen worktops. It never came out!
Trying not to think what colour my insides are now!!

Wolfiefan · 24/07/2018 12:22

You should tikka look at the curry ingredients. Check there are no ingredients that could make her sick.
Take this a lesson to leave naan washing up undone.
Perhaps a baby wipe could remove some staining?

10/10 - gorgeous self-satisfied looking cat >^^<

Sorry, no advice

Grumpyoldpersonwithcats · 24/07/2018 12:36

Kitten tikka masala perhaps?

prettygreywalls · 24/07/2018 12:43

Baby wipes ?

prettygreywalls · 24/07/2018 12:44

Btw she's gorgeous

KittyLover91 · 24/07/2018 12:44

You could try some pet grooming wipes? I get some from pets at home in a green and purple pack and they smell fabulous. Sounds like you may get mauled trying to wipe her though as she doesnt like her tummy touched!

Powerless · 24/07/2018 12:54

@Readyfortheschoolhols *Masala

AlonsoTigerHeart · 24/07/2018 12:56

Make more curry and dye the rest of the fur to match

HappyEverIftar · 24/07/2018 12:57

Chish yikes! How did s/he take it?
Ready yes we have that too, indelibly stained cat paw shapes on the white counter tops (sobs) I've been scrubbing all morning!
Wolfie I was worried about that - no vomit and movements seem ok, but it's still early days so I guess there might be some neon treats waiting for me later on today in the litter tray..
grumpy we had Rogan Josh last night. Perhaps I could adapt her name to Regina (Rogan) Josh for today!
KittyLover I'll look out for those, I'm popping out in a bit. May need to use the oven mitts to avoid another cat tattoo Hmm

Thank you flinty and pretty for your kind comments, she's an Arabian Mau who adopted us from the mean streets of Bahrain Grin

I know that veg oil is supposed to be good for carrot stains or curry stains on inanimate objects. I fear the look I would get from my cat if I tried that.
Your cat is owning that orange belly as my dd would say.

HappyEverIftar · 24/07/2018 18:29

bellini I am totally using veg oil to scrub out the turmeric stain on my white counters. Maybe even on the cat too. . wet wipes abound, it's still not shifting.

She's still orange and is snoozing.

Greenyogagirl · 24/07/2018 18:32

Omg I was thinking how, did she fall in the slow cooker whilst you were out?! Glad its’just’ stains!!
White shampoo? Or a full shave? Or decide she’s now ginger?

mimibunz · 24/07/2018 18:38

If she was a dog she would be guilt ridden and hiding from you, not snoozing peacefully with her tummy on display! Grin

bellinisurge · 24/07/2018 18:38

Wasn't there a song by The Fall called "I am Curious. Orange". Both helpful and unhelpful in one post Confused

BomBomBom · 24/07/2018 18:45

For curry stains on kitchen worktops I usually find a blob of neat bleach over the stain left for about 20 mins does the job... the kitty however may forever be orange 😁

GinGeum · 24/07/2018 18:51

She’ll wash it off eventually...

Help! I've curried my cat..
HappyEverIftar · 24/07/2018 19:02

Oh GinGeum! How on earth did your kitty do that? Did she face plant into a vat of vindaloo?? She looks a little sorry for herself (himself?)

Greenyoga just like her mum then Grin
