Kitten name? (Pictures!!)

We are picking up our new family member next Saturday and are trying to come up with a name. She’s a girl, black all over. I quite want to call her Hermione or Molly but DH is making faces. He has no useful suggestions of his own other than ‘Isabel’, which is what DS2 was going to be called if he was a girl Hmm.

DS1 (3) wants to call her Edith (after the cat in Hey Duggee) but stipulated we’d need to paint her yellow first, or possibly Purple or Space-cat.

So yes, any other suggestions would be GREAT. (Plus isn’t she gorgeous?! I’m so excited!!! Grin)

"snowy" Wink fnarr, fnarr. Love OP's original suggestion re space-cat. Mine has human name which suits them but ASBO would have been better!

My black cats called Sunny 😎 - but he has lovely yellow eyes

How about Marmite? Midnight Blue? Coco or cocoa (depending on your spelling preference)
Custard?

I was going for snowflake or sparkle but someone got there first.

Blue because of her eyes, but they may change. My next door neighbour has a black cat called Sooty, my carer calls the 'Soots' after watching a Studio Ghibli film with 'soots' in it.

My cousin has a 'Stan Lee' at her first vet check up they found out she is a girl, still called Stan Lee

Loving the names!! Please do keep them coming Smile. Current front runners are:

Daisy
Spook
Enid (cat from Duggee, not Edith as I wrote in OP)
I also love Dubh and Sooty, and Bella but we have a neighbour with a dog called Bella/ Bellatrix so that might cause some confusion when calling.

Anyway - my Pets at Home order arrived - we now have a litter tray, bowls, a bed, a carrier, and some fleece blankets from ikea to make her some cosy (toddler-proof) corners. What else do I need to get (apart from food and litter and some thus)? The mum’s owner has said she’s on science-plan at the moment - should we stick with that or move to something else?

‘Thus’ should read ‘toys’.

Also are scratching posts worth getting? We had a cat when I was growing up and he resolutely ignored all scratching things bought for him in favour of rugs Hmm.

Ebony! She is lovely.

Shes lovely, lucky you.
Yes the posts are worth getting, but sprinkle some catnip on it before you get her, it will encourage her to use it. Also get her paws in your hands and do the scratching motion with them on the post. So she knows what to do.
I like Molly, thats a nice name.

Always stick to the food and litter they know and make any changes slowly. Changing food quickly can lead to messy trays.... and if that's got litter in they're not sure about.... 🤢

I think Enid is a very good name for a cat.

Star. Aurora. Nova. Luna. Lyra. Pandora. Astrid. Calypso.

Yes to a scratching post! Or even better, a cat tree if you have the space for it with scratching areas on it.

...but sprinkle some catnip on it before you get her, it will encourage her to use it.

She's too young for catnip!!! Seriously, kittens don't react to catnip and some will actively avoid it.

Bluebell - look at those eyes!

You could just call her blue.
