My ragamuffin queen is pregnant!

There is a long back story to this whereby I have been trying to breed her for the past 3 years and had no success but finally it has happened (I think). I'm hoping to be an amateur breeder so this will be my first home born litter. We are at week 3 with my gorgeous girl retching occasionally (morning sickness), eating and grazing a lot and with firm/ pinked up nipples. Hoping to take he for a scan in the next 2-3 weeks.

Do any of you lovely people have breeding stories to share? I'm still in touch with the breeder who selected her because I wanted to buy a breeding quality queen but I don't want to trouble her too much!

I'm afraid to say it but I think you are going to get flamed on here.

Good luck OP 😳

BiologyMatters · 17/03/2018 19:08

Aw sweet. Id not heard of ragamuffins but I've heard of ragdolls, lovely cats. Do you show them?

Kraggle · 17/03/2018 19:08

Damn strikeout fail! grin

SporkInTheToaster · 17/03/2018 19:08

Amateur breeder? Are you a litter tray troll?

Kraggle · 17/03/2018 19:08

Oh ffs I give up!

NotAllTimsWearCapes · 17/03/2018 19:08

Is ragamuffin queen a specific cat breed?

chemenger · 17/03/2018 19:09

I assume by amateur you mean you are not going to make money? Or what?

F4ttyBumBum · 17/03/2018 19:09

oh bloody hell!

JudasPriestley · 17/03/2018 19:10

Your poor fucking cat. You've been trying to breed from her for three years?

AlexaAmbidextra · 17/03/2018 19:11

Generally, those of us on here aren't delighted at the thought of cat owners deliberately breeding their queens given that there are so many cats and kittens stuck in rescue centres awaiting homes, or worse still leading miserable and unsafe lives on the streets trying to fend for themselves. Please get your cat neutered.

NeedingAdvicePlease · 17/03/2018 19:14

Agreed. Adopt don’t breed. Currently fostering my third unwanted litter of kittens this year. Really don’t need more kittens out there.

F4ttyBumBum · 17/03/2018 19:16

Biologymatters

I got very close to showing my girl but for both of the Feb (2016/2017) shows there were ridiculous dramas. I'm going to see how she finds this litter and depending on that, perhaps keep a kitten of hers to show. I've had rescues all my life (lots of fostering) then a Bengal and had a Siberian (RIP Vlad) but I have loved the mischievous nature of this breed and very dog-like qualities.

Bloody Nora.

SuburbanRhonda · 17/03/2018 19:18

oh bloody hell!

You think this is bad, OP, just wait till thecatneuterer reads this thread ...

thecatneuterer · 17/03/2018 19:21

No, I'm keeping out of it. I'm trying to pick my battles ....

PinkSparklyPussyCat · 17/03/2018 19:23

It’s possible to like a breed without actually breeding from the poor thing. Have the cat neutered, enjoy her as a pet, don’t try and breed from her for 3 years!

chemenger · 17/03/2018 19:24

This one does seem like a lost cause.

NotAllTimsWearCapes · 17/03/2018 19:26

Why are you breeding her? money?

chemenger · 17/03/2018 19:26

I’ve had cats all my life, strangely I’ve never felt the need to make money from them by putting them through three years of heat cycles, pregnancy and birth.

LadyDeadpool · 17/03/2018 19:36

Well you best keep your fingers crossed that your totes adorbs cat that you've put through hell and risked the health of for 3 years doesn't die in labour now, and that all the kittens survive so you can make that money. Don't worry about all the other kittens and cats in rescues desperate for good homes, it doesn't matter that every kitten your cat has potentially means the death of another kitten in rescue.
As long as you can make the money and put your cat through unnecessary discomfort and possibly death to get those cute kittens.
I mean at least you're an experienced breeder who knows what she's doing and doesn't need to ask advice from an internet message board only a real idiot would need to do that!

LadyDeadpool · 17/03/2018 19:41

Oh and course you're fully prepared and ready to raise the kittens yourself if she rejects them/dies/doesn't produce milk right?

You did all the health checks on her and the stud? You have money put aside for any emergencies? You're prepared to take back any kittens where the rehoming process fails rather than put pressure on already full rescues to pick up where you fail?
You're having her regularly checked at your vets? Well obviously not since you haven't had the pregnancy confirmed.

Congratulations you're another scummy back yard breeder not an animal lover.
