Just saw this, praying the cats are found.

Absolutely disgraceful. I can't believe that it's still legal to allow a pack of hungry dogs run free across the countryside. I've seen hounds running around on busy roads and railway lines before. It's only a matter of time before a person is badly injured.
I hate hunting with all my heart.

gunsandbanjos · 11/01/2018 13:23

That’s disgraceful! Those poor, poor animals.

Corneliasedet · 11/01/2018 13:31

I am a solicitor and it’s been a very long time since I studied criminal law. What I don’t understand is why the police are not considering criminal damage and trespass at the very least here? There will be civil actions available to CHAT but better the police/CPS pursue this.

This is absolutely shocking and abhorrent. If dogs cannot be controlled then they should not be in public. That’s without even considering the ethics of hunting (which, for me personally, is completely revolting).

ToadOfSadness · 11/01/2018 14:43

If they were pitbulls they would have been shot by now, just for being pitbulls yet these hounds are bred to run wild and kill. Something really needs addressing.

I also don't understand how they get away with letting dogs run wild across the countryside like that. If that happened on a council estate the dogs would be seized and owners arrested.
I know someone who lives in the country with a horse. She said it is scary when a hunt is out and her horse can get freaked out by it so she has to get away quickly.

timtam23 · 11/01/2018 23:17

Poor cats, they must have been terrified. And awful for the staff as well. I'm glad most of them are back now but there have been no more updates so 10 are still missing :(

NeopolitanChocolates · 11/01/2018 23:20

Bloody disgusting Angry

Shadow666 · 12/01/2018 08:35

I see the Daily Mail picked up the story. They have video footage. It seems like they actually talked to someone at the sanctuary.

Rudgie47 · 12/01/2018 09:53

Disgracefull, hope the remaining cats return, fingers crossed for them. The hunt should have been nowhere near this sanctuary.

thecatneuterer · 13/01/2018 12:56

Still 8 cats missing and the police seem to be doing a bit of a u turn. But I really can't imagine any sort of justice will be done. Hunters seem to be above the law.

ToadOfSadness · 13/01/2018 15:20

Not enough in the media to encourage them. I seem to have the thought in my mind that Sussex Police are very unhelpful with the UK Cat Killer case too.

I am happy to donate towards legal costs if needed. Wanton disregard and disrespect for others and animals disgusts me and is one of the reasons I prefer animals to humans in general.

SNARL have criticised Sussex police in the past but they apparently have got their act together recently. Fingers crossed they come good on this as well.

ToadOfSadness · 13/01/2018 20:35

With enough publicity they might come good but really it needs as much of a push as possible or it will just be swept under the carpet.

OP posts:
thecatneuterer · 13/01/2018 20:43

Sussex Police have asked people to stop tweeting them about it as it's blocking up 'important stuff' from coming through. Or words to that effect. So that's encouraging.

ToadOfSadness · 13/01/2018 20:51

That's a shame though, because this IS important, not to them obviously, but looking at the FB comments it matters to a lot of people.

It doesn't meet the criteria for their crime figures I suppose.

More press coverage would help.

I keep looking to see if the cats are returning and see there are now 7 missing.

BishopBrennansArse · 13/01/2018 21:13

Sussex Police don't give a tiny rats wank about animals. They're not cooperating with the cat killer investigation either.

ToadOfSadness · 15/01/2018 18:50

Any news on the 6 still missing? If I lived nearby I would offer to help look for them.

Hope they managed to evade the dogs, poor little things.

OP posts:
thecatneuterer · 17/01/2018 10:53

I'm really only getting news on this through Facebook and as of today there are still six missing and it now seems likely they have been killed.

The Police have also issued a statement to say they won't be prosecuting.

It's devastating.

Shadow666 · 17/01/2018 12:03

That’s awful. Those poor kitties Sad

YetAnotherSpartacus · 17/01/2018 12:12

The Police have also issued a statement to say they won't be prosecuting

Cunts.

I don't suppose that there is any way of protesting this? I don't hold out much hope because it wasn't publicised much.

Vinorosso74 · 17/01/2018 13:15

Won't be prosecuting! That is beyond disgusting! I did hope the cats would all eventually return Sad

ToadOfSadness · 17/01/2018 17:56

It needs more press coverage. And more on Twitter. Otherwise it will continue and nothing will ever be done.

OP posts:
BishopBrennansArse · 17/01/2018 18:49

That's typical Sussex Police.
It's animals therefore doesn't matter.

ToadOfSadness · 17/01/2018 19:12

Sussex Police don't care because it doesn't look as good as catching speeding drivers.
