Fox hunt hounds at Celia Hammond Sanctuary

Just saw this, praying the cats are found.

Bloody hell that's awful. I have a very low opinion of hunters but to go close to an animal rescue with hunting dogs just goes to prove what scum they are.

Was just about to post about this. Hope The Cat neuterer is ok.

The thing is, you can shoot dogs for worrying sheep but you can't do anything about this sort of evil.

How did they get in?

Hunts frequently have dogs running out of control. Sadly usually results in the dogs themselves getting hurt or separated from the group. Really hope no cats or other animals have been hurt or killed.

This afternoon/ evening vile fox hunters allowed their pack of hounds onto the grounds at the Celia Hammond Animal Trust animal sanctuary where they chased and terrorised our elderly, disabled animals for an HOUR AND A HALF. I can hardly hold back the tears as we compile a list of all the missing cats not knowing if they are injured, dying or dead. These people are the absolute scum of the earth.

Still 21 cats missing this morning.

It's fucking horrific. Can the dogs' owners be charged with anything? I hope that the cats are found alive and unharmed.

I’m so sorry to hear that. And whoever wrote that article should be ashamed of themselves.

Celia is meeting the press down there right now. Hopefully we will get some more sympathetic coverage than that dreadful article. And we will of course pursue any legal means possible against this scum. I don't for one second believe that 'no crime has been committed'. Even if criminal charges can't be brought I'm sure that civil ones can.

I doubt the hunt 'allowed' the hounds into the sanctuary.

I expect the dogs got separated from the pack.

Its not illegal to trail hunt with dogs, so I am not sure how the hunt can be charged other than with not having the dogs under control.

Its a very sad story though

I hope the cats are simply hiding and are unhurt. Whoever was in charge of the hounds needs an arse kicking.

In my view, if they did not control the dogs then effectively they 'allowed' them into the sanctuary. It was neglect rather than an invitation, but effectively the same. Either way, they should be charged with something and banned from running dogs again. I mean ideally hunting would be banned, but that's a different issue.

This has bothered me all night, I see that 21 cats are still missing. Even if some kind of justice is done it can still happen again, these people have no thought for others.

Sad but it might be time to create a secure space for the cats.

I really hope the hunt are charged. Still wish more was done about enforcing the ban but as Yet anotherSpartacus says that is another thread.

Surely they could be charged under the dangerous dogs act? Having dogs out of control is now an offence if it caused someone to be afraid.....they don’t even actually have to have done any damage/bitten anyone.

I read this last night and was just looking for a thread on it.
It’s atrocious, those poor poor animals. I will never understand the mentality of fox hunting.
