So I went to the adoption centre

Theoretically to look at the second hand cat carriers they had for sale. And by some witchcraft I now have a third cat.

She is a 12year old long haired love machine who has had to have ear surgery which makes her look like Dobby the house elf. Her name is Sasha and I pick her up tomorrow!

Naturally I am banned from returning to the adoption centre unsupervised by my OH ever again.

She's gorgeous OP and your DH are lovely for adopting her. I can't bear to think of her thinking she was getting a home and then being disappointed. I'm so glad you were there.

BigcatLittlecat · 02/09/2017 17:39

Your post about her running to the front of her cage made me cry! I am banned from rescue centres!
We went once and there was a cat who had been there 6 months. My DH who is a silent builder and never talks about his emotions said could we look at her. When we got her out of her run she attacked the rescue lady and was very cross! My DH said we would take her! I was like WTF. So we took her home and she was the best cat ever although with very sharp claws! She loved he people but no-one else! On the way home my DH said that no-one else would take her so he would rescue her! She knew that and she loved him. When she was PTS it was the first time I had ever seen him cry. Will try and add a photo.
Have fun with your new lady.

Here is our big girl.

Well done Op, rescue cats have so much love to give especially the older ones. She's very beautiful.
Here's our diva, adopted at 10 years old because her previous owner had a baby and couldn't keep her!
Our second (and last!) was abandoned in a park. We thought he was a kitten because he was kitten sized but the vet said he was underfed and neglected. He has made up for lost time with food.

Definitely, Stella is like a Herdwick sheep! She is delightful. My longhaired floof likes being combed and hopefully, Stella will.

Here's my floofy who turned up in the village a couple of years ago and selected me to be her slave. I am a very keen slave.

Blogwoman · 02/09/2017 19:45

She is lovely! So glad you picked her. OH sounds keen for someone who doesn't like cats Grin

JigglyTuff · 02/09/2017 19:48

Look at all the lovely kitties!

Broken11Girl · 02/09/2017 19:53

Awwww

I just gave my rescue girl an extra cuddle. Had her over 2 years. Am now a well-trained cat slave.
She chose me Smile

All these men who claim not to like cats Grin

Boatmistress17 · 02/09/2017 22:00

Your dh is going to have a thread up soon and mn will be advising him to ltb (leave the bitch).
But she is worth it!! Gorgeous!

MrsSchadenfreude · 02/09/2017 22:51

Our gorgeous rescue boy waved at us through the bars of his cage. It was the most intelligent thing he has ever done in his life, as he is quite the dimmest cat I've ever had.

kernowgal · 02/09/2017 22:51

I took mine on at 15 as he'd been there for six months and kept getting overlooked because of his age.

Well, more fool those who ignored him. He was a brilliant little cat who loved a snuggle and never gave me any trouble.

The staff knew I was a soft touch, but yes he definitely picked me! God knows what will happen when I go to the rescue centre next time...

kernowgal · 02/09/2017 22:52

Sorry, meant to add: she looks great, I hope you are all very happy together!

Fluffycloudland77 · 03/09/2017 08:41

What time can you get her?.

LemonRedwood · 03/09/2017 08:47

Oh, she's beautiful! Congratulations on your new addition Grin Flowers

(I read your OP out to DH and showed him the picture and he has now added cat adoption centre to the list of places I am not allowed to go unsupervised. The others are Hobbycraft, Lakeland, Paperchase and Staples Blush)

DefinitelyOdd · 03/09/2017 11:57

So she is home. I was there dead on 9am despite having done a night shift. My DH was shocked as I am usually a big fan of my sleep.

She is currently exploring the house and seems pretty relaxed. I will try and get a picture for you.

RonSwansonsMoustache · 03/09/2017 11:57

This is our adopted one! We got him in January :) his old family rehomed him because he hissed/bit a lot. But since we got him, he's never attacked anyone and is really just a big softy. I think they didn't know how to handle him and he reacted to that.

So I went to the adoption centre
DefinitelyOdd · 03/09/2017 11:59

Here she is having explored the cat run leading from the back door.

She's gorgeous!

Blogwoman · 03/09/2017 12:01

Look forward to a pic Definitely - hope your lovely girl soon settles in. Lemon, you are me Grin (Something happens inside Hobbycraft that means you go in to buy a couple of items for a pound & come out dazed having spent £££)

OhWhatFuckeryIsThisNow · 03/09/2017 12:03

Someone we knew needed to find her a home after their car unexpectedly had kittens. yes well that would be a shock!
She's lovely btw. What about one of those rubber grooming mits to start her off?

DefinitelyOdd · 03/09/2017 12:09

Oh I have all the grooming stuff left over from my previous long haired cat (good thing I am a hoarder). She has had a quick groom and was so utterly relaxed that I barely knew what to do. With my other cat it was a case of full body armour and wrestling moves!

The others are doing well. The little boy is fascinated with her and keeps staring and the big girl is sitting under the bed probably wondering if she should take me on Judge Rinder for punishment!

Awww you are all making me cat broody!!
We lost our lovely boy almost a year ago but with a toddler around d it's never felt like the right time to adopt a new moggy.

I'm off to look at my local Cats Protection page 😍

GingerHanna · 03/09/2017 12:15

My floofy cat loves being brushed - she will seek you out and demand it!

Another vote for the furminator here!

She's gorgeous and her ears just make her more adorable!
I have to admit I also had a bit of a tear in my eye after reading how she had got excited about seeing people only to be overlooked.
I would love to adopt another after getting my lovely big neutered tom in April but, unfortunately, after being attacked by the local feral tom a few months ago he seems to be afraid of all other cats , even the ones he is twice the size of. He is obviously a lover not a fighter!
ThePlatypusAlwaysTriumphs I love the term wonky animals!!!
I'm now going to step away from the I pad so I don't spend the afternoon looking for wonky animals to adopt!
