Nope! He won't let me pick him up or stand up holding him. Unlike stable cat who I wear as a scarf

Mr Sooky on his terms only. :)

Ollivander84 · 11/10/2017 14:08

He panics badly if you pick him up. Presuming something happened when he was a stray maybe

Boycat is similar to Ollie in that way. Now he's used to me I can sit next to him for ages stroking his floofy tummy, or gently pulling on his ears, or scritching under the chin. Same in the mornings when I'm still in bed, he jumps up and demands tummy tickles. But if I try to pick him up he gets all panicky.

Ollivander84 · 11/10/2017 17:03

I've just persuaded him that if I sit on the floor and plonk him in my lap, it's not scary. But apart from that, he starts wailing "no no no" and waving claws about and struggling

Hmm

This is my other black cat. The demure, butter wouldn't melt one.

The supermarket just delivered some (more) toys for Newboy. Mice with feathers attached indeed! (One has proved acceptable. Wink)

Hello cat people! Poor Dr. Dre has kitty nits and is having resistant kitten flu so is on all sorts of human meds and getting familiar with a nit comb! She's pulling through though and is still the most playful of the three.

Biscuit is officially much bigger than Cookie. Times they are a changin'!

cozietoesie · 11/10/2017 20:07

Dr Dre is a trooper - and needs to be it seems. Poor wee soul.

cozietoesie · 11/10/2017 20:32

I’ve just been given cats’ abuse by one very disgruntled Siamese who discovered that the bed coverlet hadn’t spontaneously generated treats in his absence! Grin

Ski37 · 11/10/2017 21:08

cozietoesie- I presume this is good and means he is at least confident enough to berate you?
Ollivander84 I don't envy you having to put eye drops in!
Elvis went to the vet today as yesterday he was doing a very good impression of a poor lame cat and holding one of his front paws up constantly ( not lame enough to stop him eating though- or to stop him disappearing out and over the back fence last night!) ) the Vet confirmed he has a cut to the pad on one of his front paws..... but it looks a couple of days old and not infected. I've been given metacam (which he ate on a load of treats) and been advised to bath it in salt water. The first attempt at bathing it did not go well ( but I think he may still have been holding a grudge over the fact I allowed the vet to take his temperature! ) Any tips on how to bath the paw of a very reluctant cat?

Weedsnseeds1 · 11/10/2017 21:08

mightybanhammer , a scene I am familiar with!

Weedsnseeds1 · 11/10/2017 21:10

Posh treats have ( unexpectedly) proved a hit!

In that sense, Yes, Ski. He still has this complete obsession with food though.

cozietoesie · 11/10/2017 21:14

I saw those and toyed with the notion. Little point, though, in this household.

Fluffycloudland77 · 11/10/2017 21:19

Ski I fill a dish with warm salty water, sit on the cat & dunk his paw in waggling it around a bit.

It doesn't have to be in there for ages, I think the warmth is less of a shock than cold water.

AtSea1979 · 11/10/2017 21:22

Panther cat has randomly poo'd in the living room. He had his vaccine yesterday, is he traumatised by that or just being a little sod?

TheCatOfAthenry · 11/10/2017 21:23

@Ski37 you could wear thick rubber gloves and let them take his wrath, try giving his favourite treats while bathing, you could wait until he's snoozing and sneak up on him...

My vet is happy for me to hold mine by the scruff (but not actually lift them), but this can go wrong and may upset a proud puss!

Kibobear · 11/10/2017 22:01

Todd was surprised I had the audacity to interrupt his nap. He was not so surprised by his wee friend Smile

Freya is enjoying her new fluffy blankie. It was meant to be the winter throw for our bed but hey ho...

Fluffycloudland77 that is what I'd already tried😹 it was like trying to keep hold of a very large, very hairy snake. He allowed me to try it again though..... I may have got one claw wet this time!!!!
TheCatofAthenry - my vet actually said the same today ( not to scruff him to wash his paws obviously) but in general if I ever need to get control in an emergency she showed me how to hold him by the scruff correctly.... he didn't even flinch during her demonstration!

I assume there's some kind of weird typo thing going on, but having a post that is just my username makes me feel important!Grin

Weedsnseeds1 · 12/10/2017 06:43

ski does your cat allow sitting on lap or picking up and cuddling? You could try having a pre-prepared cotton wool pad soaked in salt water and sneak it under the paw while he's distracted?

Lanaorana2 · 12/10/2017 09:33

Can I sneak in to the thread as a latecomer? Brilliant.

Weeds I'm all over the venison treats. Mr C is keen too, although it's Lidl sticks for us this week. Here he is modelling the heated throw.
