We've adopted a kitten!

So today this beautiful little girl came to join our family. We are totally in love!

A couple of questions if you don't mind as we've never had a kitten before, our existing cat was an adult rescue.

We are told she's 9 weeks old but she looks TINY and I'm worried she may be younger, what age do their eyes normally change colour? Hers are still blue but not bright kitten blue you can see they are changing.

Also she's very very fluffy. Could she possibly be longhaired? Her mother was shorthaired so I didn't think she could be but a few people have commented that she's really fluffy. Is it just kitten fluff as I assumed?

And finally she needs a name so we can't stop calling her kitten. We like real names, pretty and girly, but can't think of any! Our existing cat is Lola and we've previously had a Mia if that gives an idea as to the type we like. Can't decide what she looks like although her personality is leaning me towards naming her minx!

She looks like a Fizzgig (from the dark crystal) 😻

Goldfishjane · 20/04/2017 21:35

You are going to update this thread with pics as well as the name, yes?

cozietoesie · 20/04/2017 21:38

Do they have any idea who her father might be? (They might be spoiled for choice.)

CatchingBabies · 20/04/2017 23:10

Yes I'll update the thread. After much deliberation she has officially been named Pixie. It's rather fitting with how small she is.

And no they had no clue who her father was. Mum was an eacapee.

Look at her fuzzy bib! She is a floofy Pixie girl Smile.

Weedsnseeds1 · 21/04/2017 06:10

I'm guessing she is just a tiddler. The photo of my old girl is her sitting on a small side plate, not a dinner plate and she's 19 in the picture, current cat is nearly 4 times her weight, for scale!
I've probably condemned dainty little Pixie to grow into a 10Kg hulk now, with that prediction!

HeartsTrumpDiamonds · 21/04/2017 06:59

We are hopefully getting a cat soon and will be naming her Pixie. Or him I guess.

gunsandbanjos · 21/04/2017 07:08

She is absolutely adorable!!!

Sadly my gorgeous little girl, who we ended up naming Kira, passed away yesterday after an 11 day battle with giardia. We are heartbroken. I urge everyone to be really really careful where they get animals from, we had no idea this evil woman has a reputation for selling underage and ill kittens.

I'm shocked reading this. I'm so sorry Flowers

SapphireStrange · 01/05/2017 13:44

Oh, I'm so sorry OP. How heartbreaking for you.

You gave her so much love in her short life.

Thanks
HemanOrSheRa · 01/05/2017 13:46

Oh no Sad. I am so, so sorry Catching Flowers.

IrnBruTortie · 01/05/2017 13:55

I'm so sorry, came on this thred to look at the pictures, she was just beautiful. And you did the very best for her, and gave her love. I'm so sorry.

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 01/05/2017 21:42

Gorgeous kitties. I want to eat their teeny weeny sticky up tails. Grin

Vinorosso74 · 01/05/2017 21:47

Oh god, I'm so sorry OP. I would never wish this on anyone or any cat but this shows how uncaring these breeders are. RIP beautiful Kira Flowers

dnamummy · 01/05/2017 22:20

Catching - I'm so sorry this has happened to you. Are you and/or your vet reporting the breeder to the RSPCA? I know it won't help you but may help build a case to get her stopped.

ElizaDontlittle · 02/05/2017 06:34

Oh I'm so sorry. That's awful - and little Kira must have totally stolen your heart in that time. I hope people do read this and consider not getting kittens from anywhere but a rescue. Hope your older cat gives you lots of feline snuggles, I bet you need them.

CatchingBabies · 03/05/2017 01:43

Thank you, we are heartbroken. Poor Kira turned out to be just 6 and a half weeks old. She went downhill fast and we had to syringe feed her every 2 hours day and night. Despite this she continued to deteriorate as this awful parasite was destroying her body. We were told it's like parvo in dogs. She was just too young and too small to fight it off. The RSPCA are involved yes and we are also going to small claims court as our vet bills were in the hundreds. I just can't believe how cruel some people can be. I miss her x

Oh Goodness I'm so sorry. Only just noticed your update. I can't apologise enough. I feel awful.
I'm.so sorry for your heart breaking loss.

RIP Kira.
Sadly and terrifyingly. There are evil cunts out there who do not give a shiny shit about the welfare of animals. They're just there to make a fast buck. No matter what the cost and heart break and suffering to others.
Flowers.

Vinorosso74 · 03/05/2017 08:37

I'm pleased you've reported this as painful as it is. I hope the RSPCA are able to stop her and save the poor mum cat. Well done on going through the small claims too, that should get her where it hurts.

Purplebluebird · 05/05/2017 13:28

Oh no, I am so sorry to read this :( That's heartbreaking. I hope you get somewhere with RSPCA, those people shouldn't get away with doing that. How horrible. Rest in peace little angel.
