I need a hand hold - missing cat

I'm in bits today. An absolute emotional mess.

My indoor cat accidentally escaped on Sunday morning and although he has escaped before, we usually see him and easily coax him back in. This time we were dealing with an emergency with my DD and with all the focus on her we didn't realise that the cat had escaped until about half an hour after he had nipped out. To make matters worse it all happened at 4am and he has never escaped in darkness before.

I've been searching ever since and done all f the million things that need to be done in this situation. Now I'm starting to lose hope as it's been three days now.

I need positive stories of indoor cats returning unharmed. I'm really interested to know how they reappeared. Is it usually a call from a kind person who has found the cat or do they just arrive home unannounced? If so , how do they get back in or let you know they are home?

Also I know this is v v unlikely, but have you checked all big trees nearby? It's the only place we didn't think to check as he had been an indoor cat and is shit at climbing, but it's where he was, and was too scared to get down.

We checked sheds, garages, churches, caravans, ditches. We didn't look in trees as we didn't think he could climb high, but that's where he was, the little idiot.

AngelsWithSilverWings · 08/03/2017 22:41

I've been looking up at trees. He is a climber - he sits on top of open doors and jumps down onto my shoulders!

I'm glad you're feeling a bit better. I'll be thinking of you and your cat, I hope you're reunited soon.

Reow - you are a bloody star! He's home and it's all thanks to your tip about putting food everywhere. Thank so much.

I got up this morning and opened the front door as usual to have another little hunt around and there he was!

I'm so happy! That champagne will come out tonight!

Thank you to everyone who answered my post when I was about as low as it's possible that get over a missing cat x

Only just seen this thread. So very happy for you, getting your kitty back! Smile my gorgeous boy went missing one day and was never seen again, despite posters, door to door, phoning vets/council etc :( Pleased that you have a positive outcome.

Reow · 09/03/2017 06:44

Sorry to hear that Phoebe :-(

How long ago?

Sparklingbrook · 09/03/2017 07:14

Yay! I love it when I read the thread then right at the end it's all ok.

i was going to say don't give up hope ( this week I reunited a cat with it's owners and it had been missing 8 months).

Way too early for Wine but have one anyway. Grin

AngelsWithSilverWings · 09/03/2017 07:37

If someone can give me a tutorial on how to get a photo on here from an iPad I will gladly share a photo of my gorgeous boy! ( I've been here for 10 years and never worked out how to do links or photos 😳)

The girl cat is not happy this morning! Hissing at him - he's getting a proper telling off.

It's the little paper clip sign sign underneath the text box. You click that and it will let you browse your photo folders to choose one.

I love to see a photo of the MN cats Smile

Oh wow, he's a handsome boy! What breed is he? His eyes are amazing.

UnbornMortificado · 09/03/2017 07:53

Angel he is beautiful.

Reow I've just read your thread too, pleased you got him home.

AngelsWithSilverWings · 09/03/2017 07:59

He's a Burmese blue. They are a wonderful breed - so loving. He plays fetch and gives the best cuddles. They need to be kept in pairs though so I was really worried about what to do if he didn't come home to his sister.

Reow · 09/03/2017 08:02

He's lovely. He looks very young!

AngelsWithSilverWings · 09/03/2017 08:08
