Does your cat bite?

Do any of your cats bite?

Ours does - I think she is just playing as she only seems to "hold on" rather than really sink her teeth in (unless you try and pull away!). She usually does it when you are stroking her calmly and quietly - she'll suddenly just go for it.

She is a keen (indoor) huntress now, as evidenced when playing with her so I wonder if the two are related? She is also a very independent madam, although mellowing a little now.

Despite owning and caring for numerous cats over the years, I've never had this before!

Mine bites - he's an affectionate lap cat but also has a strong hunting instinct. Since he's an indoor cat and has no feline companions, he exercises this instinct on our bare legs and feet!

Minta I get why they attack toes , they look like a row of little mice Xmas Grin but legs are weird!

Our housecat LOVES being stroked but only between her ears. If I try to stroke her back then I'm risking a bite.

Our rescue cat is definitely a biter! He is properly savage as he goes for bare flesh. If you are wearing a jumper, he will go to bite and then search out bare flesh to make sure it hurts - arms, hands, or looks for the gap between trousers and socks. He loves it in the summer when there is more exposed flesh.

He's an angry biter but we can't figure out why. Sometimes he stands at the top of the stairs and if you try to get past, he goes for you. If you hesitate, he will then howl at you. It's very weird!

He can be affectionate though and will sit on a lap for a cuddle and lives his head being stroked.

I don't know what is going on in his head Confused

Ppeatfruit yes, and I wonder if bare legs look like a nice juicy leg of ham to them!

Blimey TopKitty He sounds like a feral to me, even our outside strays don't do that. Before you think we're cruel, they have a proper building to sleep in and we feed them well outside because our rescue housecat HATES other cats and there's always aggro if one of them gets in. She's a bit to old for change now.

The strays love RAW food so maybe that's why they go for the flesh! minta !

ppeat - we joke that his previous owner died and he had to eat them and he now has the taste for flesh. (Sorry morbid humour)

We know he had a previous owner, so he's defo not feral. He can be really affectionate at times. We love him despite his bitiness!

Mine does. She does the love bite thing where she grooms you for a bit then does a little gentle nibble, and she does the bite where she just holds you in her jaws and if you keep still she won't bite down. But she also properly bites my feet when I'm sat at the computer, or my arm when I'm not stroking her in the correct manner, or DD's head when she's annoying her. She's quite a bitey cat! Very loving too though, loves cuddles and snuggles in bed.

I love cats, they're all so different Xmas Grin I think it was a programme about cats that said they are not FULLY domesticated like dogs, and they sometimes forget that (when being petted etc.) until they suddenly remember and then WATCH OUT! The biting begins !
