Cat stuck on neighbours roof

My poor cat has been stuck on a neighbours roof from around 5pm. She has cried so much her meow is hoarse now from crying. I'm 7 months pregnant and can't get her down at all.. I've tried treats, cat food and her laser pen. The roof is very steep and everytime she goes to make a move down she loses courage and goes back up. It's so cold outside and I don't know what to do. Normally I'd wait a bit longer before getting worried but it's been almost 5 hours and it's to be minus 2 here tonight. All advice from rspca online says wait for at least 48 hours, but how can she stay up there for two days in this freezing weather! Has anyone has anything similar happen to their cat or have any advice? Xx

I would call the fire brigade and see what they advise. With all this wet cold weather it must be making the roof slippery. I hope you can find a way to get her down tonight.

Fire brigade don't do rescues apparently. She's still up their now, that's all night from about 5pm. At least it's going to be a bit warmer today but I've no idea how to get her down. I've to go into work and won't be home until after 5pm. Phoned the vet but they said just try food, I've tried that and nothing's working she is just far to afraid to attempt the slope and come down

Can you see a route she used to get up there? Could be worth tempting her down that way? Failing that I'd be asking around to see who has the longest ladders!

Tell the fire service you're heavily pregnant and are going to climb a ladder to get the cat. I bet they come...

Bless her. I assume neighbour doesn't have a skylight or dormer window that you might ask them to open? Do you know how she got up?

Bogbastard got on the neighbours roof as a kitten. I couldn't see how he was ever going to get down but eventually he nerved himself and made a mighty leap across to the fence. I think she will likely do the same?

If she's still up there later, friendly non pregnant person or neighbour with a ladder?

Do you know anyone with ladders?

My cat climbed out of a velux onto a roof once. I hung a towel out for her to run up. Any chance you can do that, or can you put something for her to jump on? How high is it?

OP - maybe try local roofing companies? Or tv aerial installers? Both should be able to get up on a roof.

Actually I've also heard tree surgeons advised as a source of rescue. We have one on the road so he was going to be my next port of call!

I have a smallish ladder here but wouldn't he high enough, plus don't fancy climbing it in the ice.
I've to go to work now and if she is still there when I get back around 5pm I will call in with the neighbour and ask if they have a ladder. No upstairs Windows look accessible, not sure how she got up there.
Just moved to the area two weeks ago... Going to look like a crazy pregnant cat lady, hoping first impressions don't always stick lol! Xx

Have you actually spoken to the fire brigade? I would find the number for your local fire station and give them a call to see if they can help (obviously don't call 999)

There's no guarantee she won't go up there again if you do get her down. That's why it will be better if she finds her own way down, which she will
eventually.

Just home from work. She's still up there. I've rang USPCA and fire service and they said there's nothing they can do. Neighbour has tried getting her down with no luck. Don't know anyone with a ladder big enough and it's raining here with temps predicted to drop below freezing later. So stressed now and don't know what else to do!

Go knocking on doors. Someone I'm sure will be willing to help. You may not want to look 'crazy' but you will just have to get over yourself and do it. Someone will have a ladder/be able to climb it. Go asking!!

YES to knock on doors. Especially on doors of cat owners.

I've gone up up and up and got up and got a up and got a cat up and got a cat from up and got a cat from a garage of an elderly neighbour before.

People will help.

Thanks everyone. Can't work out how she got up at all. Neighbours can't tell either. I've called a local roofing company who are going to call out and see what they can do this evening so fingers crossed that works

Do you have a local 'spotted' page on Facebook or similar? Could put out a cry for help on there, people like helping out especially where animals are involved ☺
Maybe a local cat rescue even?
Could you throw a blanket up there so she's got something to grip?

I really hope you can find a way to rescue her soon. Poor little cat.

If the roofer comes they'll get her down, they have huge ladders.

My bet is she suddenly remembers how she got up there just as the roofer is climbing the ladder

Poor little kitty, great idea about roofing company, hope she is back inside and curled up on a warm bed very soon

Thanks for all your help and ideas! Roofers just left and she is back inside eating like she has never eaten before! Roofer said she was clinging on for dear life and the roof is so high there is no way she would have gotten down at all. So glad she's back home and safe.. Definitely worth the £20 paid! Safe to say she will be an indoor cat for a while! Xx

£20 is a bargain! Glad she's down now op
