I've got two lovely Persians. Who are my world. I got them by chance and apart from the owners of the rescue I got them from don't know any one else with them. Would love to know what your Persians personalities are like! Photos required!

This is mine, he is a complete dumb-ass!

Thick as mince is a good description, he has paws the size of a cart horse and his favourite activity is just lolling about looking pretty.

Can't hunt and is terrified of magpies, squirrels and balls. He's fantastic at fetch though, you throw him a stick and he retrieves it!

I love all the photos – all the Persian cats are so lovely and fluffy! I really want a black one so when you’re in the dark… all you see is ‘eyes’ Grin

This is ‘Little P’. We adopted him from a Breeder in February 2016 at 10 months old. He’s neutered and a house cat and incredibly docile – His main personality is food obsessed as when we sit at the dinner table, he’ll jump onto a chair and pop his paws on the table and literally eat with us! He could be sleeping upstairs and if we open a packet or open a jar or eat ANYTHING, he’ll be by our feet within 0.53 seconds.

‘Hello! You have food? I like food, can I have some of your food?’ Smile

He’s not a lap cat, but he loves being near us – if we close a door, he cries and he wants to be near us 24/7 – whether we’re having a bath, going to the loo, cooking… even ‘adult things’ Blush he wants to be there! (I draw the line at the last one…)

He’s got his own Instagram and Twitter account and I tend to talk to him like I would a child ‘Oh, how’s my beautiful baby boy? Aren’t you looking fluffy? Would you like Mummy to feed you some organic salmon? Yes you would, wouldn’t you my beautiful boy?’

He may be a bit spoilt Wink

Loving the photos on this thread!

As pp have said, they tend to be affectionate, playful, friendly but also terrible hunters and generally a bit dim... (I think their common sense has been bred out of them Smile)

Toddlerteaplease · 10/11/2016 17:17

Fluffy, he is too cute. Black ones are terrible to get nice photos of! My friends and family are convinced mine have no face and getting a picture of their huge green eyes is almost impossible. Mine have recently started following me around. It's adorable.

Toddlerteaplease · 10/11/2016 17:18

I also talk to mine in the same way. Unfortunately they turned their nose up at salmon and roast chicken!

wellthatsjustgreat · 10/11/2016 17:33

Tuna in spring water is Mr Pusskins favourite but he has been caught stealing anything & everything he can. He's an absolute gannet Shock
Out of interest, what cat food do you all feed your Persians?

Toddlerteaplease · 10/11/2016 18:27

Mine have Royal Canin Persian dry food and nothing else. They aren't overly keen on wet food. They only had tuna once and it made one of the sick immediately! Dreemies. (All flavours) and lik e lix chicken or salmon for treats. Milk and liver flavour got ignored!

OP posts:
wellthatsjustgreat · 10/11/2016 19:48

I thinking of trying Royal Canin as it does seem to be favoured by Persian owners.
My last Persian had urinary problems all of his life so he was fed Hills Prescription diet C/d.
I've only had this cat a few weeks & when he came to me, he was being fed go-cat complete. Me, being still very neurotic about potential urinary issues, instantly nipped down to the pet shop & bought him some Hills science diet urinary health just in case and also because the choice of cat foods was so overwhelming!

Toddlerteaplease · 10/11/2016 20:33

I'm neurotic about hair balls. They never ever cough them up so am worried they are going to get an intestinal obstruction from them. Royal Canin has something to prevent hair balls and it clearly works. Their costs are wonderful!

wellthatsjustgreat · 10/11/2016 20:51

Urgh fur balls - I hadn't missed them at all whilst I was without a cat. They're a regular occurrence again now!
I think I'll give RC a go once he's finished the bag of food I've already got.

FluffyPersian · 11/11/2016 13:40

Toddlerteaplease But black ones look so cool! I love the fact that they're literally just black fluff... and EYES! and when they hide under things all you can see are the eyes Grin - My sister has 2 black rescue cats and they are so lovely... one is long haired and they look awesome, just like your lovely babies! Are yours related?

wellthatsjustgreat Mr Pusskins is an epic name! Little P also loves tuna in spring water, however mostly he is fed on Applaws - either chicken or fish selection as it's 'natural' - same as Josera cat nuts which are from Germany I believe and also natural. The Breeder was really particular about what we fed him in regards to things not having any additives and as he likes that, we've just continued feeding him what he's always had!

(Although last night he had some of a fish finger without the breadcrumbs and he rather liked that!).

Little P has never coughed up a hairball..... I just thought of that! I wonder why not? Confused [Shock]

Toddlerteaplease · 11/11/2016 14:34

Fluffy, yes the are sisters and almost identical. Telling the apart is a challenge at times. I used to be able to do it from their behaviour as they had quite set things that they did. But now the shyer one has gained in confidence it can be difficult to work out who is who! I was told they were inseparable, so had to go together. They rely on each other but don't like each other! Typical sibling love hate relationship.
Some black floof just for you!

Toddlerteaplease They are literally like my dream Persian Grin ... I'd probably spend stupid amounts of time trying to turn the room they're sitting in, completely dark and trying to take random photos of them - little fluffy balls of love! Just imagine if they were sitting side by side in a dark room... Argh! So cute Smile

We're considering getting an Exotic shorthair to be friends with Little P, but we're waiting until the situation presents itself as I think Little P is happy on his own at the moment and enjoys the attention - I love him, but hoovering once a week, we pick up TWO complete hoover loads of white cat fluff, even when the carpet looks relatively clean and we brush him every single day!!!!!

twilightcafe · 11/11/2016 15:16

This thread makes me Sad. We had a Persian/Siamese cross called Herman who went to the cat basket in the sky a couple of years ago.

twilightcafe · 11/11/2016 15:23

Herman was a crotchety old so-and-so but we loved him.

Toddlerteaplease · 11/11/2016 16:45

Herman was lovely. Those blue eyes! I would love an exotic. The rescue I got mine from has to gorgeous exotic sisters that have been there ages as they were so traumatised but I think my house is just two small. Sad

Toddlerteaplease · 11/11/2016 16:47

I've not found the hair to be a big problem. It's easier than short haired as It doesn't she's as much all over your clothes or stick. The worst place for it is the duvet. Dyson v6 deals with that!

OP posts:
elvisola · 11/11/2016 16:55

I've also got an Exotic shorthair. She and my Persian have the same mum but obviously different dads and the litters were a year apart.

We got her as my Persian was at home alone most of the day and we thought he might be a bit lonely.

She is adorable. A total lap cat, she wants to be attached to me at all times and she is very vocal.

She sleeps on my part of the sofa so when she decides it's bedtime she meows constantly at me until I inevitably give up my chair.

Fluffycloudland77 · 11/11/2016 17:12

Herman looks beautiful. I suggested a chinchilla to Dh all those years ago but he wanted a feisty cat & we certainly got that.

Toddlerteaplease · 11/11/2016 17:14

Fluffy I think black ones are quite rare. I went to a cat show and there were only two. The winner of best of breed was black but not as 'text book' Persian as mine are. He had a very overbred look about his face. I think it's called an ultra face. I didn't think it was that pretty. (Not being biased)
