Ye gods, my cats gone and got herself knocked up

Confused

She's a beautiful pure breed birman. We've had her just over a year. We bought her off a family member who has bred birmans for years and she was from the last litter ever. She was the only girl and we had decided with them that we would keep her for breeding possibly one litter (family member shows cats all over the country). Hence why she hasn't been spayed.

She started calling in June and we kept her in for a week. She stopped calling and everything seemed fine, we let her back out again. Around this time I took her to the vet as she seemed off her food, vet gave me some overrid? to stop her ovulating as ideally we didn't want her having a littler until she was older.

Last week she seemed to suddenly explode, checked her nipples and yep pink and huge. She's bloody pregnant! I don't think she got pregnant in June as she would have had them by now. So no signs of calling and the overrid doesn't seem to have worked.

Except now I have no idea how far along she is! She's pretty big, very big pink nipples and I can feel the kittens moving around inside her so I don't think she's got very long to go.

Family friend is away for a month so is no help. What do I do?! Does she need to go to the vet? I've been reading up and it all seems straightforward but it's a pain not knowing when exactly she's due.

I've got her a nice box and old blankets for the birth, is there anything else I need to do?

emotionsecho · 19/09/2016 12:30

Are you going to scour the neighbourhood for the potential father(s), OP?Grin.

Lovely kittens and your cat looks very relaxed.

hollinhurst84 · 19/09/2016 12:31

They're huge! Did she mate with some giant cat?!

LokisUnderpants · 19/09/2016 12:32

Squeeeee! Two gorgeous bouncing babies!!!!

FruitCider · 19/09/2016 12:32

They are v big. I reckon dad is a feral cat or a large breed eg main coombe

PinkissimoAndPearls · 19/09/2016 12:32

Best thread ever!

DH sends me a random kitten photo every morning but is working away ATM and doesn't have time, so this thread is making me feel better Grin

Im so excited for you. You're a kitten mother.

Lindt70Percent · 19/09/2016 12:33

This brings back lovely memories of my cat having kittens when I was child. She had 3 litters. Magical time.

Your cat looks very calm.

PinkissimoAndPearls · 19/09/2016 12:33

I'm too exited to punctuate correctly, obviously. Do you think the abnormally large kittens might be part Maine Coone Grin

PuppyMonkey · 19/09/2016 12:36

Too much cute!! Well done puss FlowersFlowers

Soubriquet · 19/09/2016 12:37

Maine Coons don't come in black do they?

SoupDragon · 19/09/2016 12:43

Awwwww.... :)

MalodyandJim · 19/09/2016 12:46

We live on a farm and there is one monster feral cat and one medium. Both tabby/black

First kit was black with stripes, second is massive! Grey tabby!!

kilmuir · 19/09/2016 12:48

Good, now get it sterilised as soon as possible!
1000's of cats need homes

MrsJayy · 19/09/2016 12:57

Can the feral cats be caught and snipped ?

cozietoesie · 19/09/2016 12:58

The litter could well have more than one father of course. Undiscriminating little hussies they are, sometimes. Grin

PaddingtonLoverOfMarmalade · 19/09/2016 13:00

Ahh, she's beautiful, and looks like she's doing well.

Soubriquet · 19/09/2016 13:00

Bit like dogs really

I once met a litter of puppies who clearly had two dads

Mum was a lab. Half of the puppies had terrier in them, the other half had rottie in them. Interesting litter
