Hypoallergenic cat?

Does such a thing exist? My DH is allergic to to cats and we're not allowed a dog. There is a furry shaped hole in our family. Can the ladies who are owned by cats offer any insight??

Potential, we must have photographs of your little alien cat!

The next few weeks will go v e r y s l o w l y.

I picked my curly comedian out at a week old. The next 12 weeks - I was counting down the days.

Our's shouted his head off on the hour long journey home, then played with his Flying Frenzy for 2 hours non stop after opening the door to his carrier. Had a bite to eat, then slept through the night between DDDH and me.

They're not like other cats, almost a species all of their own, if that makes sense? Sort of like an inquisitive child that never grows up. Peter Pan of the cat world!?

Overthinker, do you have any photos of him in his baldy/Keith Flint stage? Here's one of mine, but you can't see his mohican.

I have no idea how to post photos! I'm currently veering between enjoying the peace before she gets here / thinking I'm insane to get another kitten / wishing she was here already so I can tickle her bald belly....
When we went to visit she choose me - she played with me then crawled unto to my knee and went to sleep, the other kittens weren't interested in me at all- job done.....got to play with lots of other Devons while we were there- was hilarious....
I might or might not have spent half hour earlier rearranging set of shelves in my living room to make room for a bigger cat/dog toy basket.....

You just pick choose file on your lappy (below message box), then it takes you to downloads --> pictures. My lovely breeder sent me weekly photos of my little rapscallion.

At least tell us what colour she is, and the largeness of her ears? Grin

RubbishMantra · 01/08/2016 18:01

...and he chose me, and vice-versa.

I chose him through these photographs, and he chose me by clambering up my chest, and falling asleep under my chin.

He's the little lad with Dorito ears, staring frontishly into the camera. I just knew I was destined to be his Mum.

Can you do it on iPad?

OneFlewOverTheDodosNest · 01/08/2016 22:10

Sorry Bendydick - missed your question! DP is still less allergic to our slightly dodgy second Siberian than to other cats. Round my aunt's cat he gets red eyes, rash and can be quite ill. For our cat he sometimes gets a bit wheezy (asthmatic) but never anything properly concerning. He didn't get that with our first cat either.

OneFlewOverTheDodosNest · 01/08/2016 22:15

Here we can see proper Siberian (grey) and imposter Siberian (ginger) whose Mum clearly managed to have an affair with a local Tom... Shock

You can get ginger Siberians though ... unless I've been had over Bogbastard Smile

PS they are BOTH gorgeous whatever their imposter status!

OneFlewOverTheDodosNest · 01/08/2016 23:01

Haha thank you, your cat is gorgeous! I know that ginger Siberians exist but Gingercat is definitely an imposter. Aside from the allergy thing, he's also half as fluffy and quite jumpy for a Siberian. Plus not quite two thirds the size of his brother...
We love him anyway, despite his tendency to purposefully rub his bum in poor DP's face!

OneFlewOverTheDodosNest · 01/08/2016 23:03

Also I think proper Siberians tend to be apricot orange like your cat rather than our tangoed boy!

MilesHuntsWig · 01/08/2016 23:16

My friend at work has bought two hypoallergenic cats (bred not to have the allergen in their saliva) as her DH is allergic. Cost quite a bit but she was desperate for cats.

Clonakilty · 01/08/2016 23:22

It depends how allergic. I react to people at the theatre or on the train. Just the fact that they have been with cats is enough to trigger an asthma attack and a trip to the clinic. I can't go to people's houses if they have cats - I can't even sit in the garden. I can tell if a cat has lived in a room even years afterwards as I come up in rash as well.

OneFlewOverTheDodosNest · 02/08/2016 08:14

Geez Clonakilty that sounds awful - don't think it would be worth risking it to be honest. DP gets asthmatic from normal cats but only when they're in the same room, or if we're in a particularly catty house.

Think this might work...
