90% of my house is tiled or wooden floor, so why does my cat ALWAYS choose to vomit on the rug?

Why? Just why?
And it's one of those long fringe type ruffley rugs, so the vomit goes right down into it and I have to pick out the lumps before I can wash it.

Of all the more convenient areas he could vomit, he always chooses the bloody rug.

Sad Bloody good job I love him!

I think they feel miserable when they're sick so like to do it in comfort.

P1nkP0ppy · 18/04/2016 17:05

Definitely because it stops splash back....... And because he knows you love him and really don't mind clearing up after him 👿

RedOnHerHedd · 19/04/2016 18:15

He did it again today! I was out.
The theory of needing to dig their claws in makes sense. I'd never thought of it like that before.

Yes, I love him.
And I love Hmm cleaning up after him.

Clearly you need to change cats.

Mine has managed to avoid my expensive persian rugs (the only valuable item of soft furnishings that I have)

Although this last time he deposited his gift by DS's room door.

RedOnHerHedd · 19/04/2016 18:44

I think he may have a hairball that's trying to come up. Either that or he's scared of not being fed ever again so gulps it down without chewing.

Probably a hair ball.

Mine vomited in one place and then spit a hair ball somewhere else.

Just because he can Grin
I like the theory of something to dig claws into. That makes sense to me!

UpsiLondoes · 19/04/2016 19:55

Place a bath math in middle of kitchen floor. Display it. You walk around it. Your cat will saunter up to it and claim it, sitting its bum right in middle.

Bamaluz · 19/04/2016 20:03

Mine vomited all over the lid of a big wicker hamper full of toys once.

Not the easiest thing to clean.

RedOnHerHedd · 19/04/2016 22:19

Upsi, that's s brilliant idea, I'll try that! Thank you!

A wicker hamper... That must've been fun for you!

I think it's because they slip back on wooden or harder floors.

Mind you they do just like being bloody minded. Our dear old boy once waited until after the carpet fitters had left and then up-chucked on the newly-laid pristine landing carpet. Oh how I laughed Shock

It may be that they are just checking how unconditional our love is Smile

cozietoesie · 19/04/2016 22:40

Do you groom him much, Red?

RedOnHerHedd · 19/04/2016 23:19

Yeah, once a week he gets a good brush from me and the DCs brush him in between too. He doesn't get a hairball very often, but I know when one is coming because of the frequent vomiting.

I don't have anything to add, I just wanted to show you this picture of Thing 2.

RedOnHerHedd · 20/04/2016 00:30

Thing 2 seems to love that catnip!

we're considering an intervention.

RubbishMantra · 20/04/2016 14:51

Thing is saying, "Take this catnip off me and I will chew your toes to the bone while you sleep."

MCat waited until I put down my beautiful rug, imported from Italy. It had been rolled up, still in it's packaging up until then. Woke up to several piles of sick, varying in size, the morning after I'd put it down.

The bedrooms are carpeted in a pale colour. He likes being sick on those too.

Vanish is your friend. Miracle in a can.

Luckily Little Monsieur isn't a sickie. He doesn't have much hair though, and I think it's mostly furball related.

Have you tried giving him a good old groom a few times a week, Red?

RubbishMantra · 20/04/2016 15:13

*... Sorry, missed the bit about regularly grooming him.

MCat comfort eats if stressed, then sicks up the excess food. Have there been any changes to his routine?
