Gourmet cat soup

I kid you not!
Received an email today marketing 4 flavours sachets of cat soup, so being slave to my trio, off I trotted and Sainsburys have some (sure other supermarkets will also stock it) 40g sachets (read tiny) for 80p each, so I got one of each flavour. Tried a portion between two of mine and it was scoffed very quickly, never seen the bowls so clean. This was the tuna and anchovy flavour.
Glad they enjoyed it, but hope the price comes down!

:) laughing here as i remember exclaiming incredulously 'soup for cats? you're shitting me' ....actually out loud when i first encountered it in Tesco.

Followed by 'mmh, maybe this will get some much needed moisture down the liquid of any kind 'refusnik' in my life.

He loved it (prawn flavour) & have a few sachets in the cupboard now.

Still feel like a crazy cat lady when dishing it up though :) 0.80p each....they saw me coming four miles away.....

cozietoesie · 30/03/2016 10:07

My supermarket suddenly has four varieties in stock so we'll give it a whirl. Smile

cozietoesie · 30/03/2016 13:39

You're not a crazy cat lady, Bibi, until you've started a thread asking what temperature you should be serving it at! Grin

Geepee71 · 31/03/2016 18:34

What temperature did you serve it at cozie!
My cats all prefer the fish versions of the soup, not that they are getting it too often!

It's ordered but not yet arrived. I think I might give it a quick blast in the microwave to warm it very slightly - it just feels wrong to serve cold soup. Blush

Geepee71 · 31/03/2016 20:12

Unless it's consommé of course Wink

My mum was heating food in the microwave 20 years ago.

The cats got a choice at night. Mine was eat it or go without.

Geepee71 · 31/03/2016 22:30

You might be onto something there with warming up their food...... Apart from the smell!

cozietoesie · 31/03/2016 22:39

There's a difference, Fluffy. You ate it! Wink

cozietoesie · 01/04/2016 09:19

It's going to be interesting to see the reaction, Geepee. There may be a very happy cat next door of course but if Seniorboy likes it, it might be a good way to get some extra liquid into him. Tomorrow lunchtime is arrival.

Fluffycloudland77 · 01/04/2016 18:00

It's a bit disappointing to realise my cats figured out there was a choice when I didn't.

cozietoesie · 01/04/2016 18:30

Cats can be ruthless. I doubt you were. Wink

Fluffycloudland77 · 01/04/2016 18:40

All those times I ate fried cods roe like a little trooper.

cozietoesie · 01/04/2016 18:44

Dear Goodness. That is disgusting.

Fluffycloudland77 · 01/04/2016 18:47

I know

cozietoesie · 01/04/2016 18:55

I think I'd rather have eaten the cats' food than that.

cozietoesie · 02/04/2016 14:02

Well they've now all arrived. I see what was meant by 'seeing me coming'. Slim pouches. Very slim pouches.

The lucky recipient-to-be is currently fast asleep so I'll save the potential treat for what would normally be his pudding time this evening.

Floralnomad · 02/04/2016 14:04

Our Ragdoll didn't like it .

cozietoesie · 02/04/2016 14:22

It might, indeed, be a very happy next door cat next week. Who can tell? Grin

cozietoesie · 02/04/2016 21:32

He's eaten a pouch of tuna and anchovy soup. It's really - well that flavour - like an incredibly wet cat food. Some stringy bits of solids in a fair amount of thick liquid. Given that he wouldn't normally touch a fishy flavour though, it's quite a success.

80 pence though. I should eat as well as him gram for gram! Grin

VikingLady · 02/04/2016 21:39

Our cats love home made chicken soup with real chicken stock in. They'll get through absolutely loads (the furry bastards, I swear I turned my back on my dinner for two seconds )

Geepee71 · 02/04/2016 23:16

Definitely going to stay as the occasional treat, don't want them getting used to it and then turning their noses up at it!

Update - found it in The Range 3 sachets for £1.50 so might have to stock up, still expensive, but better than 80p each Smile

OP posts:
cozietoesie · 03/04/2016 15:45

Sorry - buying multiples of cat food/stocking up is just an immediate reason for them to suddenly reject it as if it was some foul muck. Grin

Geepee71 · 03/04/2016 16:32

Oh I know Cozie....... I mix it up to give variety, thankfully they all seem to like Aldi, vitacat select in gravy, but I also ha variety of felix, Sheba and gourmet......
