Cat has scoffed his dinner but avoided the tiny tablet

Just that really has managed to avoid the tiny worming tablet I hid in his dinner now I'm going to need to try and get him to take the now a bit soggy tablet any advice to get him to take it?
He is feeling very sorry for himself after having his vaccine today.

Can you crush it (if instructions permit) and put it in a small amount of something strong tasting like cheese or fishpaste?

I put a bit of butter on it.

Still have to hold him and open his mouth though, but he swallows it when there's butter on it

Wrap it in a bit of something he really loves (I had to buy smoked salmon specifically for this purpose for one of mine!). Failing that, wrap cat in towel, stuff tablet in cat's mouth - often easier at the side - hold cat's mouth closed until sure cat has swallowed tablet. Pick up spat-out even soggier tablet and apply dressings to your lacerations. Good luck!

Our dear boy (now sadly departed) used to do this. We would put the pill into a teaspoon of supper and would not give him the rest of the pouch until the pill was eaten (the pills were "palatable" meat flavour though - are these?)

PS - next time get vet to administer tablet!

Dreamies sandwich.

Two Dreamies, sandwiched together with malt paste. I hide the tablet in the malt paste.

For bigger tablets: Dreamies drugs mule. A Dreamie, sliced in half, tablet inside the Dreamie, Dreamie stuck back together with malt paste.

thank you he seems to love cheese I had no idea cats liked cheese until my toddler dropped a bit. Will try it in some cheese then probably have to work my way through all of the suggestions he is too clever for his own good.

We have to get four pills a day into Ancient Cat. We get through a lot of cheese...

My collie used to eat his meat and veg (with biscuit) supper as dogs do. Slurp, scoff, wolf, GONE. Except that he didn't like peas and every time he had it, we'd end up with a bowl licked shiny clean and one pea sitting forlornly in the bottom. I never worked out how he managed to do it given the way dogs eat.

Seniorboy is more straightforward in that he won't take a pill in any form and however disguised. Even his vet doesn't bother to try these days.

One of mine will eat them in tuna. Provided it is john wests and in chunks. The other I don't even bother to try tablets. Only way I've ever got them in is crushing and adding one speck to cream cheese wrapped in smoked salmon. Takes a significant amount of salmon to get a full tablet down a speck at a time.

You can buy one of those tablet things that you put in their mouth, then hold mouth closed and rib throat to help go down

We use sainsburys beef and chicken paste. I have to do tablets twice a day for one dog and injections twice a day for another and this paste makes it do much easier. They love it.

I crushed it up with some cat pate that he usually scoffs and he has left 3/4 of it.
Will now probably need to get another tablet 🙈

I think I may own the only cat who doesn't like dreamies he just turns his nose up at them.

I make a little burger out of tuna and put the tablet inside. The cats are then happy to gulp it down.

This is exactly what happened with the worming tablet the other day. Went all soggy in his food so I'll have to buy more. Will try the Dreamie trick next time!

Natures menu treats from pets at home. Break tablet in half, break treats in half (they're squishy ones) and squidge half a tablet in between the halved treats
If I'm feeling very devious I chuck this on the floor quickly followed by another and then the second disguised one
He's usually too busy searching for the second treat to notice the tablets hidden

I think you just need to be careful about which one you get, Daft. Some of the available spot on wormers don't tackle tapeworms if I recall. (If you need to use a spot on.) Seniorboy receives Profender which is a broad spectrum wormer and does go for tapeworms.

Oh, they just know don't they, very clever. I had to get the worm drops for the back of the neck, my cat gets in such a state with tablets, starts drooling and all sorts, plus he's very strong, never know a cat like him.
