So I'm getting a maine coon girl in 11wks (only a week old). I have 3 cats already who are very spoilt but the local rescue won't consider us.
Photos would be good Smile

Interesting re: litter trays - do your MCs not go outside? Just wondering as I would love a MC but used to cats that do their stuff outside!

Here's my one, Naboo. He's only half Maine Coone. He's a cunning, haughty French Duke who decided to move in with my next door neighbour. Still comes in to passive aggressively whine for his tea though.

Mine are house cats - pretty much all breeders recommend it but it's obviously personal choice.

OP, I've had one silver (with another en route!) and I've noticed they quite often lighten as their coats get longer and fluffier.

Here's my new girl at 4 weeks and 6 weeks, I think you can see the difference just in that short time.

And this giant lump of Huntercat is a rescue of unknown pedigree Grin

I just think he looks a bit like them sometimes!

We have a huge Maine Coon (with papers, so he definitely is a pure bred) but he, very very disappointingly, doesn't talk at all. He also isn't a lap cat and only likes a limited amount of fuss. However, he is a lovely natured chap and happily hangs around whichever room we are in.

Thank you all for sharing with me Smile. I'm very excited and can't wait to see what colour her coat turns out. Still puzzling over a name I like Maureen

FuzzyOwl, how old is he? My cream lad was pretty much entirely silent until he was about 3! He also has the most pathetically small miaow which on a cat his sizes is really funny.

He will be five this year Statistically but that is promising that your cat was silent and then wasn't. The chirruping was one of the reasons we got a Maine Coon! Sad Obviously we wouldn't be without him but we would love it if he started chatting away like most of his breed do.

Our cat also started off black all over and is now an awesome black and grey smokey colour, with the most fabulous tail!

You all have beautiful cats. I am going to have an enormous boy one day, probably when the children are grown up and the moggies have gone though, very far from now! I love them.

We have a cat who is just a 'moggie,' but we live in an area where there are lots of Maine Coons in the wild and he has a lot of the character traits.

He LOVES the shower, and will pester us to go in it - he'll run in and then paw the shower door until we turn it on. He also does the little chirrupy sound and has a ruff.

I am definitely his favorite person. He follows me around and sits on my lap (all 20 lbs of him) and if we've been on holiday he'll spend the next few nights sleeping ON me - often right across my face - once we get home.

Mine poo outside. They have a litter tray, but don't use it unless the weather is truly foul.

Please keep posting pics Nantucket. I am checking in for updates. I mentioned to DP the other night about my desire for a Maine Coone. He said -"Please don't bring anymore cats here. What are you doing? Practising for being the local mad cat lady?'. I said 'Yes I am. And they are BEAUTIFUL BIG BUNDLES OF FELINE GORGEOUSNESS!!!! Grin

The notion of a 'quiet cat' is quite alien to me, having had a Siamese as my first cat and being trained at an early age.
