Do you let your cat out in the snow?

Just wondered if I should have not let her out this morning.

Kitties can cope! If they don't like it, they come in again quite fast.

Yes - ours have a cat flap and it never occurred to me to keep them in?
Never had snow more than a few inches though, I guess it could be dangerous if very deep

Yes, our cat loves it!

I shan't ever forget the first time he experienced it, gingerly sinking his paws into it, trying to shake it off.

They'll only stay out as long as they want to.

ours have a car flap and come and go as they please... i wouldnt even dream of keeping them in

Mine goes out, does the quickest pee/poop ever, then sprints back in to her sleeping spot on the radiator she is somewhat of a pathetic creature

Mine come and go as the please. Both are inside this morning, though, but have been out. The cat I had as a kid hated the snow and when she was elderly, I had to dig a path for her outside so she could go, as she didn't like the litter box. I remember as a kid, we had a very steep garden and a lot of snow, and she had braved going outside and had a great time. She took a jump onto what looked like a solid surface and vanished! Cue small indignant face as she jumped from the hole, only to create another hole! We shouldn't have laughed, as she was very pissed off with us, but our pristine garden had about 5 huge holes in it from her trying to get back to solid ground!

Some of mine actually love the snow. We had a pure white cat, Lady and it was like she waited all year for it, actually the ones who like the snow are her descendants. Let them out, if they don't like it they'll soon be asking to come back in.

Our cat has been out there all morning playing in it with DD. It makes him v skittish, it's hilarious!

But he is a Siberian cat so if he doesn't like it there is a big evolutionary problem going on!

One of mine (no longer with us sadly) used to love it. She'd rush out and start scrabbling in it.

We haven't had much snow here though (south east).

Ours has seen it today for the first time ever and is totally unfazed. She's been in and out all morning

We get snow pretty much every year here in Central Europe, and Archcat hates using his litter tray indoors, so he essentially HAS to venture out in the snow to go to the loo. We have about 5cm this morning but it's not too cold (only about minus 1) and I think he even went and did a short morning patrol. He's pretty grumpy about it though, and came in afterwards to have a good whinge, just like he does when it's raining outdoors. Because of course the weather is our responsibility too.

We haven't got any snow though it is very cold - and I accidentally shut one of our rabbits out of the run last night it's the first time I've done it, I looked around for him but normally he's hiding in there somewhere after dark so didn't think he could be out.

He was pottering around the garden this morning. I don't know where he went, or how he didn't freeze, but it must have been jolly cold for him. Luckily he is very fat (he's been confined for a while due to surgery) so I hope that helped!

Have given him a warm bath and cleaned his bottom, which needed it, and he is safely back in the hutch with his girlie friend.

It's a shame to keep them in but tbh our garden is so damp and muddy, and they run about so little at the moment that it hardly seems worth letting them loose.

DH's kittens are 9 months old and enjoyed their first snowfall last night and this morning. They seem to love running around in it.

Mine love the snow. The only weather they really don't like is driving rain.

My cat dragged me downstairs at 5am (stairs aren't easy for me ATM) and when I opened the front door for her, she backed off back into the lounge and looked at me like I was stupid 20 minutes later she asked to go out again, DH got up this time and she did the exact same thing

Felix (the one before Sev) spent his days mostly outside on the rooftops, even in winter (large area with all sorts of wildlife, he used to present me with living bats and rubbish he stole from the crows). He loved snow and water. He used to come in all wet and cold and always tried to lie down on my pillow.

PurpleHair unfortunately she is no longer with us, but she sure was absolutely beautiful, and loved loved the snow.
