Scruffy cat (homeless?) Help!

I've 2 cats, Big Grumpy and Wee Shite (not actual names) Big Grumpy hates other cats and I nearly had to give up the kitten as she was so grumpy about him (they're ok now)

They have a cat flap that I've had to lock so it's inward only so kitten can't get out (he's mastered the cat flap but not spayed etc yet)

Anyway this other cat called Scruffy Cat has been popping in and out for food. Big Grumpy obviously doesn't like him. Now the cat flap is locked though Scruffy Cat can't get out again. He's filthy, his fur is thin and scraggy looking, he's flea riddled Sad He's not skinny/starved though, friendly if you stroke him but growly if you try and shift him. Went in the kitchen tonight and he was asleep pushed up as close to the radiator as he could get. Have put him out but I feel mean on him! I really love cats Sad Also he has a blue patch thing in one eye? Like actually in the eye, hard to describe.

I don't want to take him on as have the 2 cats already. But don't want to shove him outside and leave him. Also don't want to lock the cat flap all the time as Big Grumpy gets stressed if she can't get in.

What do you advise anyone? Am breaking my heart over him!

(I will add pics when I take some)

how is Catkin?

fenneltea · 28/10/2015 22:55

Ooh hello Gatekeeper . [Smile]

Catkin is doing really well, a little bit more portly, but giving my parents a laugh every day. She's still like a proper lady and likes to be up and about (and fed) at the crack of dawn.

She's still keeping the dogs in their place and has spent a lovely summer lying in the garden trying to catch the mice in the hedge. She has developed a game with my dad when she hears his slippers coming down the garden path and she hides behind some trellis and races him back to the house. She always wanders up to say hello when we visit bless her.

I hope you are all well at your end!

dad not over grand but otherwise we are all well

There has been a ginger and white tom hanging around of late and the other night he was sitting for over half and hour staring in through our patio doors Grin

Well. Haven't seen ScruffyCat since we got back from the vet on Tuesday! I have his neutering voucher but no cat to neuter Confused

we got our stray with a trap and some nice, juicy roast chicken legs inside

PinkSparklyPussyCat · 30/10/2015 16:34

Harry says ScruffyCat is a very wise cat. If he knew what was going to happen he would never have stepped into that trap no matter what treats were in it! Grin

MardyKnickers · 31/10/2015 10:13

ScruffyCat is also a very hungry cat though, doubt he'd refuse chicken.

Surprised he's not been back while it's been so cold and wet and dark though. Hmmmm. Funny wee furballs aren't they Smile

Any sign of ScruffyCat? He's been on my mind, with the 5th approaching...

Celen · 03/11/2015 07:33

Yes I keep coming back to check this thread too. Any news OP?

MardyKnickers · 03/11/2015 22:10

He's definitely not been in since the day he went to the vet! Cat flap is still locked one way so if he'd been in he'd not have got back out again.

Kind of hoping his actual family saw this thread and have been shamed into keeping him in to get him sorted out

(If you are, I have vouchers to get him neutered for free!)

I wonder if the vets visit has traumatised him and he's too wary to come back in? I think I'd resort to a trap outside and see if you can get him that way, the weather will turn soon poor thing.

thecatneuterer · 04/11/2015 12:53

Oh no. I was sure he'd be back by now. I'm sure he will be soon. And no, of course his actual family haven't taken him back in. They're ancient history.

It might be an idea to leave food outside your house during the day just in case he's nervous of coming inside.

Come home soon Scruffycat!

SoDiana · 04/11/2015 17:48

Told you he is a kickass cat.

PinkSparklyPussyCat · 04/11/2015 19:33

fenneltea, I think you could be right about the vet traumatising him. Earlier this year, DH and I tried to take DM's cat George (aka Misery Guts) to the vet. I still bear the scars on my hands and George doesn't want anything to with DH and I, to the point that he runs outside when we go round, and he rarely goes out! Obviously this is an extreme reaction and I'm not saying ScruffyCat will bear a grudge as long as George!

I agree with putting out food for him and I'm sure you'll be back in his good books soon.

ShmooBooMoo · 07/11/2015 19:25

Still no sign, OP?

MardyKnickers · 12/11/2015 20:39

He wasn't stressed at the vet, he was purring and enjoying being petted!

When he got home he wasn't fazed either, he had a stroll round the garden for a bit and wandered off into next doors garden!

Still not back though
