all my new things have come for my kitten today and all set up ready and waiting.

Was supposed to have her tomorrow but the breeder has messaged me saying that she is not 100% confident that the kitten is ready due to picky eating so giving it an extra few days.

Wish I could pick her up now lol.

Interestingly, I've never had a Siamese boy who did any 'kneading' - or whatever others call it (I know there are different names for it.) I've often mused whether that's because they're usually older when they arrive and have already grown out of the habit as they've dissociated with their mothers?

(I recall picking up Twoago and upon being introduced to his mother, she bounced in to the room, roundly ignored the kits and you could see the look on her face of 'Oh Joy - Humans!' I don't think it's just the kits that are glad to see the back of their Mum. Wink)

Mimigolightly · 07/08/2015 11:52

GCCF Registered breeders are obliged to keep their kittens until they are 13 weeks old and had their full course of vaccinations & worming treatment.

Between 13-14 weeks is a good time to re-home kittens because, as pp said, they are properly weaned, socialised (hopefully) and ready to leave their mum.

Fluffycloudland77 · 07/08/2015 20:26

Asbo was 17wks when we got him and does neading.

cozietoesie · 07/08/2015 20:32

He would though, devil that he is! Grin

Fluffycloudland77 · 07/08/2015 20:38

oddly, the other male sold first. Cannot think why.

cozietoesie · 07/08/2015 20:45

I suspect that ASBO would be weaned by his Mum as soon as he bit a teat. What would that be - 3 weeks? He probably has lots of unfulfilled urges. Smile

cozietoesie · 07/08/2015 20:46

PS - Sorry Piper. A bit of a tangent here.

Corygal · 08/08/2015 17:40

Mr C kneads madly - this am as I slumbered he hopped onto my back to massage me awake. It's bliss on the shoulders. Until the claws come out.

Can't wait till yours arrives, Piper.

PiperIsTerrysChoclateOrange · 08/08/2015 21:17

I am such an idiot I thought I did all my homework but turns out I was wrong.

Kitten is home with me, taken her to the vets today as she is full of fleas and vet thinks she is 6 weeks old.

I'm not happy with the so called breeder.

She has also been wormed and had a full check up.

PiperIsTerrysChoclateOrange · 08/08/2015 21:18

I picked up my baby from a different house I have taken the things to.

Fluffycloudland77 · 08/08/2015 21:49

Theres a lot of people breeding with moggies or breeding dogs with no health checks etc.

Fleas aren't good though at 6 weeks. Take her to the vet at the first sign of being unwell, they are all available 24/7. You can ring and the nurse rings the vet to come in if they aren't already in.

girliefriend · 08/08/2015 21:55

Hmm is there a reason you didn't use a rescue centre to get a kitten?

Unless there are really good/valid reasons no one should be 'breeding' cats at all imo!!

Poor kitten, if 6 weeks will need lots of tlc be prepared for sleepless nights, frequent feeding etc.

cozietoesie · 08/08/2015 22:03

What do you mean you picked her up from a different house that you took the things to, Piper ? Were you eg sent to a house other than the one you had originally thought the breeder lived in?

(By the way - did you pay any money for her?)

VelmaD · 08/08/2015 22:03

Do you know for definite that it's the same kitten if you got it from a different house? Did you get your stuff back? Did you pay for the kitten? Where did you find the breeder?

I got two kittens at 7 weeks, they had their first check up at 9 weeks and were allowed worming and flea treatment then, not before.

6 weeks is very risky with fleas, keep an eye on any change in her health - flea anaemia can be lethal, and they can react to flea treatments too

Poor kitten :-(

PiperIsTerrysChoclateOrange · 08/08/2015 22:11

I did get my things back and they didn't want any money for her.

We have been to the vets and I'm keeping a very close eye on her. I have the vets on speed dial.

A friend recommended this 'breeder'

I have hand feed her and she is eating and drinking well.

She is very playful at times. However loves cuddling into my old dressing gown with me.

Sleeping down stairs with her.

Don't care about sleep this kitten needs me.

VelmaD · 08/08/2015 22:13

I'm glad you got your things. Hopefully this "breeder" now neuteres their cat. There is no need to breed kittens any more :-(

I really hope your kitten doesn't get sick. What have you called them? Is it a boy or girl?

cozietoesie · 08/08/2015 22:13

Yes - she's your responsibility now.

Have you named her yet?

VelmaD · 08/08/2015 22:14

Just seen you're referring to girl sorry! Did the vet check? My boy was thought to be a girl at 6weeks... :-)

PiperIsTerrysChoclateOrange · 08/08/2015 22:15

It a girl name unknown yet.

I have spent a good 2 hours with a nit comb going through her fur and got loads out.

Going to do it again tomorrow

Poor kitten :-( the house and mother must be riddled

PiperIsTerrysChoclateOrange · 08/08/2015 22:16

Bet did a full check up and booked in for her jabs in 2 weeks

OP posts:
PiperIsTerrysChoclateOrange · 08/08/2015 22:23

I will also be getting her neutered.

OP posts:
Notmeagain1 · 08/08/2015 22:53

Oh, Piper, the poor baby. It's a good thing you got the baby now or who knows what could have become of her in a few weeks.

I just got my ragdoll at 13 wks old a week ago and she weighed 2.2 lbs when taken to the vet, but she was the runt of the litter and is spoiled rotten now. She was kept an extra week because of her size and the breeder wanted to make certain she would be alright on her own.

I wish you could report your so called "breeder". I hope they didn't have any more kits left to be eaten alive by fleas. Let us know how she is doing.

This is my 14 wk old BluBelle she's so sweet.

Can't wait no more.
PiperIsTerrysChoclateOrange · 08/08/2015 23:26

The vets are reported for me, as they have seen her.

She weighs 1/2 kelo. So tiny so vulnerable.

I am having to teach her every thing.

PiperIsTerrysChoclateOrange · 08/08/2015 23:48

I am glad I didn't go to a shelter like originally planned, God knows what would happens to her other wise.
