I will soon be getting my own house and was desperate to get a kitten but after reading a few posts on here I realise I should give a rescue a home.

Having googled my local I'm sat feeling sorry for them all! How will I stop myself taking 20 cats home!?

I love my little black cat. She has a very sweet and loving personality. She had quite a tough start in life and I really get the sense that she is very happy here with us. She is still a bit nervy, but has come on so much since the early days. It's only been a couple of months and she's young - less than 1yo - so I'm hoping she will come on further. Last week she hopped up on the bed to say hi for a bit, that was a first!

I have 5 cats and a dog - would happily have more cats but they need feeding, defleaing, dewormimg, vaccinating, treatment when they're poorly - so I reluctantly stick at 5.

You absolutely must get a rescue cat (s) - one or two of the neglected ones, maybe including a Mum whose kittens have all gone (obviously she'll be black).

I always go and have a look around the rescue centres and make my choice and then go home and think about my choice for 24 hours, then go back and get him/her. (They've never been taken as they're always the overlooked ones).

Another vote here for black rescue cats. I have one and she's lovelyyyy.

And her hair never shows up on my black tights in winter!
