My beloved Scabbers. I know 36 hours isn't that long in the scheme of things, but it's unheard of for him - he comes home for tea every evening. I have a really, really bad feeling.
I sent him out yesterday morning as usual and he didn't once pop his head in all day, not entirely surprising as I was using a noisy power tool in the garden all arvo....then he just didn't come home. I didn't get a wink of sleep and I'm pretty certain something has happened to him. Neighbour hasn't seen him. Farmer hasn't seen him. I've rung the local cattery who will ring me back if he's handed in. I've walked up and down the road and the woodland track he goes down but nothing. Checked my sheds.
I have a ton of work to do this evening and cannot relax. Don't know what to do.
Thanks for listening x

Any news, Jon ? And how's Snowers doing without his main man ?

aJumpedUpPantryBoy · 04/06/2014 16:37

Any news Jon?

JonSnowKnowsNothing · 04/06/2014 18:01

He is HOME!!!!!!!!!!

He looks like utter crap - clumped fur, cut ear...Christ only know what he's been doing! I cannot believe it though. I was sulking on my bed (broke a tooth today) and he just tore up the stairs followed by Snowers!! After lots of cuddles and kisses he instantly jumped into his bed on top of the heated washing rack and I'm going to let him sleep as long as he likes. I'm keeping him in tomorrow too and will check him thoroughly for ticks and injuries.

I am so bloody relieved but still so puzzled. Thank you so much for your positivity, it has meant so much. And I'm willing so much for the other lost kitties on this thread to come home too.

Cannot believe it!have enclosed a pic - sorry he's looking a bit grumpy!!!

Please hold my hand - he's been gone 36 hours

Oh fantastic. I'm so pleased!!!

DramaAlpaca · 04/06/2014 18:05

So glad he's home safely. It sounds as if he might've got into a fight and being lying low for a while. He's gorgeous, by the way!

Fluffycloudland77 · 04/06/2014 18:05

Well thank god for that. Poor chap.

ProfYaffle · 04/06/2014 18:07

Yay! I'm so pleased, have been lurking on this thread as my cat went missing about the same but we got him back on Monday (he'd followed some blokes on their way home from the pub and got lost, ended up living in their garden for a couple of days Hmm) My cat's a ginger too Smile

JonSnowKnowsNothing · 04/06/2014 18:17

Thanks!!
What on earth goes through their heads?! He didn't even look guilty. I'd love to know if it was him eating the meat outside the cat flap!
And now a guilty admission....I realised yesterday that I'd let his insurance lapse. I've just re-insured him and Snowers too. I'm a bloody idiot.

I wonder if he's been in a fight if he's cut his ear?

cozietoesie · 04/06/2014 18:24

Thank Goodness! Is Snowers dancing attendance on him?

JonSnowKnowsNothing · 04/06/2014 18:48

Cozie, for Scabbers' sake I've shut Snowers out of the bedroom so he can get some sleep! He seems happy to have his pal back though.
Fluffy - I think he been in a fight. He's got a claw type scratch on the inside of his ear and a blood patch on the back. Can't work out what the mats in his fur are though - I thought they were ticks at first as they seem to originate at skin level...but I don't think so. Need a closer look.

OP posts:
cozietoesie · 04/06/2014 18:55

Could they be the remains of puncture wounds? (Tooth or claw.) I think I'd vet him tomorrow on general principle. If he's been in a fight and had a hard time, he may need some intervention.

cozietoesie · 04/06/2014 18:57

I'm so glad he's back.

JonSnowKnowsNothing · 04/06/2014 19:16

Cozie that might be exactly what they are!!! I will most definitely take him for a checkup after school tomorrow. And thanks, I'm so glad too. Sound s awful but if I'd found him dead I would have obviously been heartbroken...but I'd have had to accept it, as I did with Millie. But not knowing has been dreadful cos Ive been imagining him trapped in some shed with no food or water, hoping someone comes to let him out.
Poor little boy. If I thought he'd tolerate it, I'd keep him in forever.

Lovely news Jon - did it take your mid off your toothache Grin

I'm so glad he's home

RubbishMantra · 04/06/2014 19:26

Woohoo! Grin

Mine went missing today, the little bugger had managed to climb into a neighbours upstairs window via the roof, then managed to get himself locked in her cellar all afternoon. Poor little thing was ever so spooked, and covered in cobwebs. He's still jumpy now. He must have been petrified.

It's brilliant when they return from their marauding! Grin

JonSnowKnowsNothing · 04/06/2014 19:49

Right - I'm quite certain now that he was trapped somewhere. He's just come downstairs and I actually gasped at how skinny he is around the hips and belly, in just three days!!!! Poor little boy!given him a second dinner.
rubbish how scary! So glad he was found. Doesn't bear thinking about really, does it?
pantry it has for the moment - it won't when I have to pay for new tooth reconstruction. Uggggggh.

If was down a rabbit hole and got stuck they wriggle free when they lose weight through dehydration.

We trapped our own cat for 24hrs once, she did not take it well and held it against us for ages afterwards.

cozietoesie · 04/06/2014 20:00

Watch just how much you give him, Jon. He'll want to eat but hold back a little if he shows signs of pigging in case he upchucks it. Poor lad.

JonSnowKnowsNothing · 04/06/2014 20:06

Oh god fluffy really??? Hope scabs doesn't try and blame me!! I wonder whether it was a rabbit warren. I've not seen any here, but we extremely rural and there are plenty of rabbits, so logic dictates....
Cozie - good point. Can't deal with puke if he's sleeping on my laundry rack! On a delightful note, he's had a poo and it wasn't, er, liquid, like it was when he had an infection. It did seem to contain grass though... God the things we do!

cozietoesie · 04/06/2014 20:10

It sounds alright, Jon. Food, a sleep and then food again is OK because there's time for the first to be processed. Just worth keeping a gentle eye on.

Let us know how he gets on tomorrow?

JonSnowKnowsNothing · 04/06/2014 20:14

Will do thanks. I will defo keep a close eye on him. He's still not purring yet.
