Nothing to eat from 10pm tonight. OMG. I will be crying as much as her.

Well she is having tartar removal and a scale and polish for definite Fred but there may be extractions as they say they don't know for certain until they get all the crap off her teeth first.

I feel a bit like when the car goes in for a service. They can basically tell you whatever and you have to go along with it because you aren't the expert.

She's only a youngster, Sparkling. I doubt they'd have let you away with saying No if it was seriously important to the success of the op.

Exactly cozie. If I don't get this done for her she could end up with gingivitis and all sorts which well be further £££££££s.

Ah yes, they did say something similar to us, if he needed teeth out etc it would be more. He'll need to go in again next year i think, amazing really, fluffygirlcat who is 4 and fed the same food has amazingly white sparkling teeth! Maybe it's all the mice she brings home to eat. When will you go collect her?

Seniorboy has been pretty good since the op. The occasional bit of gingivitis - which is sort of inevitable given his age, immune system and eating habits - but a huge improvement on pre-op when he was miserable and also starting to be sick a lot.

You had no choice, really.

Hope it's at the lower end of the scale. Ask for a cost breakdown as well as that sounds steep.

I can't see what would cost that much TBH Clara. i have her insured but it doesn't cover dental stuff. Weird that.

My cat had a new lease of life after a tooth extraction and scale and polish etc. six years ago. Until it was done we hadn't realised that her appetite had diminished and she really perked up. She'd not had bad breath for long and back teeth aren't normally something you can safely inspect in a cat

True greenhill unless you want to be mauled. I assume I will be given a lecture and some cat toothpaste that won't be used in order to avoid all this again.

I suggest a very tightly swaddled towel around sparklingcat and leather gauntlets for you or a suit of armour

Well I have just rung. They say she is looking quite bright and wanting a fuss. But I need to have a 'discharge appointment' and the first one available is 5.30pm.

Our vet said that some cats are just really prone to bad teeth and others aren't. We have toothpaste and that green stuff you sprinkle on their food, works great for flufflygirl cat, and makes no damned difference to blackboycat. Did they say if she needed any teeth out?

No Freud I was afraid to ask. Apparently the Nurse will tell me what was done at the 'discharge appointment'/lecture.

I just want to go and get her back now and give her a big cuddle.

Well that was odd. The bill came to £147.05. And that was with a bottle of something to add to her drinking water that cost £16.20.

Scale & Polish=£46.35
Anaesthetic =£75.71

Onsior (no idea) =£8.44

Syringe =£0.13

Then the water stuff at £16.20.

I paid and left.

Sparkling Cat has eaten two pouches and now wants to go out. Vet said to keep her in for a few days.

Oh - and I'd definitely keep her in. She may look normal but she'll likely still be stupid (deep down) with the GA. Outside is too risky.

I am about to rummage the litter tray from the garage for her cozie. She is currently looking out of the french windows in a sort of daze.

She had a very cute pink bandage over her shaved bit on her leg.

The good news is that I never divulged the £250-£350 thing to DH so he's none the wiser.

While I was waiting a man came and asked at the desk about teeth cleaning for his Staffie. They said £100-£150.

They did say that they wouldn't know until they got in there, I suppose.

Seniorboy's estimate was extremely accurate but that's not surprising because not only was his mouth quite horrible and they knew there would be extractions but also a large proportion of the charge was for the liquids during the op and the care afterwards which were mainly down to his age.

Well she's having a check up on Friday which is FREE.

She's still fighting going to sleep bless her. If it was us we would be off to bed with some painkillers.
