Some bastard has hit my cat.

Some fucking shit ran over my cat!

My neighbour called me and said someone was speeding down our road ( which drives me mad as we have a school and nursery near us and it is 20 mph, but that's another thread....) and our cat ran across the road and they hit it. Get this they slowed then fucking drove off, did not even get out to see if he was okay.

So I had to take all three of my children home to see if he was dead bloody traumatic for them ( he was not dead) he is now at the vets with god knows what wrong with him, when I picked Him up and put him in my car he collapsed.

So to the Aibu can I watch out for the car as i have the reg and a good description and stick hundreds of post it notes thanking them for not getting out of the car the bastards? Angry

I am so sorry to hear this. Nasty nasty people. In my book YANBU to do almost anything to them.

No doubt I'll get flamed for this but the driver has no legal obligation to stop/ report an incident involving a cat. I'm sorry that your cat was hurt.

Obviously you're angry but you don't know that the driver was aware he or she hit your cat. They may have heard a noise, slowed then thought it was nothing or couldn't see anything so drove on. The cat might have run into the side of the car?

It must be upsetting but don't assume the worst automatically.

I hope your cat makes a full recovery.

I know there is no legal obligation but for fuck sake is there no compassion anymore, I would stop and see if I could do anything.

I really don't know I have a horrible feeling he will have to be put down, I know it means nothing but he is the most beautiful pedigree Burmese and my children adore him.

I am so fucking frustrated and am going to put notes up outside my house.

Sorry the person knew they hit something even my neighbour heard, he said it was very loud. When I say slowed my neighbour said slowed to see out the window my cat dragging itself towards him then sped off.

Vet says his insides are okay have to wait for bladder though, he has had dental work for his jaw and teeth extracted.

His front leg is sore not sure if broken but I am most worried that his back legs keep collapsing.

I'm sorry to hear about your cat Zepherial. Similar happened to my cat last year. He now has 3 legs, but gets about surprisingly well. (The bill was eye watering though, so hope he's insured)

Hoping for the best for your cat. At least he's at the vet and they won't let him be in pain while they check him over.

That's awful OP, of course he should stop (legal obligation or not). Maybe he knew he was speeding and was scared he would be caught if he stopped?

In any case, I will keep my fingers crossed your cat is ok. The initial news from the vet seems positive, so hopefully the rest will be too.

One thing you could do is if you have the reg, make and model is look it up on the DVLA site to see if it's taxed and insured.

Thank you all for your kind words, my poor dog is looking for him in his bed. I just want to cry.

Now I will get shot down, he is not insured we cancelled after my other cat was killed. (Before you say anything the dog is)

I don't care about the money we will pay for it, just angry at the lack of compassion.

What a terrible shame. Your poor cat Sad I do hope he makes a recovery. We lost my most beautiful and favourite cat about three years ago on a very busy main road. I don't even know why he ventured that far. He hadn't even been missing, but it just so happened as I was on my way home I saw a council worker who was clearing the verges picking him up so I managed to bring him home and bury him. Other wise I'd never have known what had happened to him.

I actually hit a cat not long after passing my driving test. I was completely hysterical and DH had to go and try and find it (it ran off after we hit it into a fair ground on the other side of the road) I went to the police station to report it but they pretty much laughed at me or being so traumatised about it, the bastards!
