Theres a cat that used to come for food, she seems to just flucuate from house to house with no real owner but lots of 'feeders' IYKWIM?

The bloke down the road who also feeds her said that he thought she was pregnant, sure enough I saw her a few days ago with a round tummy but she darted.

He knocked on the door to say she was slim again so check the garden ect... and I could hear a tiny mewing in the playhouse and there was 5 kittens under a chair!

I've found mum and they are all curled in a crate with a blanket in the kitchen. Got cat food in the cupboard anyways (in case she came back for a snack!)

Bit shocked to be honest!!

Only one if they may be interested in two new additions!

They have already said they don't want another so soon :(

cozietoesie · 06/09/2012 20:33

Hah! Just wait till they see them in another few weeks.

ratbagcatbag · 06/09/2012 20:35

Invite them round for cups of tea lots and lots and list of all the virtues of the cute homeless kitties, if you did that to me I'd have all five.

They may change their minds, we were never ever ever ever ever ever having a cat according to DH, then one followed me home, It was hanging around for a couple of days and then I went out one evening, came back in the rain to be very suprised that no cat outside, hmmm that was because she was asleep on DH knee, he couldn't leave her out in the bad weather!! That was four years ago, shes asleep on the clean clothes upstairs at the moment :)

Are you likely to keep mum?

HereLittleKitty · 06/09/2012 20:42

Yes, I'll be keeping mum :)

Of course, the reason for recommending kitten is it is higher calorie and provides more protein etc, but if you have lots of free food, it would be silly to waste it.
But perhaps maybe do one meal of kitten food and one meal of adult food in rotation?

fridakahlo · 06/09/2012 20:49

Kitten FOOD!

fridakahlo · 06/09/2012 21:13

I type far too slowly!

Oh Dear. Sad

Could any of the neighbours take her temporarily if your DH is cutting up rough? I'm thinking of the guy down the road who was also feeding her?

Pinot · 07/09/2012 09:53

bump

Sparklingbrook · 07/09/2012 09:54

Please can anyone help Here.

5inthebed · 07/09/2012 09:56

Oh no, how sad :(

I live too far.

cozietoesie · 07/09/2012 10:01

OP

There are plenty people around this board who work for or with rescues so they'll be able to give valuable advice - but my own immediate feeling is that if you can persuade DH to let you hang on to the kits for at least a few more weeks, their chances of finding a new home are much better. (Any cat rescue would have to put Mom and them all out to foster at the moment, I think, which might be more difficult to find than individual homes.)

Having said that - why don't you try this

\link{http://www.catchat.org/index.html\cat chat}

I think they're supposed to be pretty good at referencing possibilities.

Best of luck

OLimpPickMeddles · 07/09/2012 10:01

I would be right there (the Mum looks just like my lovely old lady who died last year), but alas have 2 new cats, and I don't think I could persuade DH to accept any more (not since one crapped on his (clean) washing...)

Sorry, but I am sure their some lovely Manchester Mumsnetter will come good...

Sparklingbrook · 07/09/2012 10:02

Could you start a 'Calling Manchester Mnetters' thread-with a link to this one?

Try cat chat then - I had a look on the site and they've got a lot of possibilities including the numbers of your local rescues.

Fluffycloudland77 · 07/09/2012 13:41

Sad.

One day he'll be old and pooping everywhere and no one will tell him to sling his hook.

Such a shame for you.

Meowmi · 07/09/2012 17:54

What a shame I'm too far away i'm afraid.

But please do try the catchat website forum that cosie linked to (if you haven't all ready done so), they are very good at helping in situations like this and have rescuers and contacts from all over the UK.

There is a lady called kelly-Joy from Animal Lifeline and she is fantastic at finding available rescue space and sorting out transport runs, may be worth contacting her.

Good Luck!!!

gingerpig · 07/09/2012 19:13

oh no. I'd your husband insisting on throwing them out? even when they're so tiny? Sad

cozietoesie · 07/09/2012 19:23

I would hope that he had no intention of throwing them out on the street at that age gingerpig. I'm pretty sure that if the OP is seen to be making genuine efforts to re-house them, that that would be enough.

HereLittleKitty · 08/09/2012 12:11

We would never abandon 5 babies!! :(

We are just trying to find someone who has the love and time for them!
