Theres a cat that used to come for food, she seems to just flucuate from house to house with no real owner but lots of 'feeders' IYKWIM?

The bloke down the road who also feeds her said that he thought she was pregnant, sure enough I saw her a few days ago with a round tummy but she darted.

He knocked on the door to say she was slim again so check the garden ect... and I could hear a tiny mewing in the playhouse and there was 5 kittens under a chair!

I've found mum and they are all curled in a crate with a blanket in the kitchen. Got cat food in the cupboard anyways (in case she came back for a snack!)

Bit shocked to be honest!!

I could put Sparkling Cat in the cattery for a couple of weeks and see if my kittens turn up then?

fridakahlo · 05/09/2012 22:14

Anything is worth a try Sparkling!
Cannot imagine that Sparkle cat would be best pleased to come home to a house full of kittens though!

Awwwwwwwww! That is a very cute picture, but there is only one of it. We need more!
How are mum & kittens this morning?

HereLittleKitty · 06/09/2012 09:27

Shes brill, ate alot, still curled up with babies, we left the window open (not intentionally) and she must have gone ut to the loo and come back as shes not used the makeshift tray and shes been here since yesterday morning and ate alot so must have been toilet!

She looks very content :)

Gorgeous!
I'd talk to a cat shelter about best way to proceed with getting her spayed, them all getting new homes, etc.

cozietoesie · 06/09/2012 09:34

She must be a mighty relieved mum. I don't know what it's like with you but it's definitely turned colder this morning with us - and rain in prospect. She's now got a house, a bed and a slave. Life probably couldn't get much better for her!

:o

Anything I can do?

HereLittleKitty · 06/09/2012 09:54

Spoke to a cat charity and they are sending a voucher to get her spayed.

I think ill just keep her here untill they are old enough to go to homes. im sure i can pursuade a few family members to adopt :D

Gosh they are cute. They look about 3 days old to me :)

cozietoesie · 06/09/2012 10:58

They're plump little puddings aren't they? She must be feeding them well.

Do you know yet how many boys/girls you have?

cosysocks · 06/09/2012 11:19

Squeeeeelllll so cute!

HereLittleKitty · 06/09/2012 11:25

I haven't looked yet cozie, I don't want to disturb them too much.

Some cat shelters can help with cost of getting the kittens neutered, too. Worth asking if any of the homes they go to are limited income.

HereLittleKitty · 06/09/2012 16:40

Can i feed her adult cat food? My neighbours cat passed away and we told them about the kittens and they have given us about 8 sixpacks of adult food!!

OP posts:
Pinot · 06/09/2012 20:14

She can have adult food but I would alternate it with kitten food. Kitten food is more calorific and she'll be knackered feeding all those kits. You don't want her scarpering to get a rest. But every other meal would be fine, I'm sure. Do always make sure she has plenty of water and also Cat Milk as she'll be v thirsty. The cat milk (Whiskas stuff) is lovely and calorie-laden too.

HereLittleKitty · 06/09/2012 20:17

Right, will add cat milk and kitten food to shopping list :)

She also gave me some frontline, is this OK to give her?

Ooh, I'm not sure - I would call a vet to get some free advice on that. I would worry it could be toxic to suckling kittens pawing at her. But useful for when she's older. You're doing great!

cozietoesie · 06/09/2012 20:24

I understand that Frontline Spray is better for young kits (can be used on mom - and on them from 2 days old.) You can spray on a piece of cloth and rub over them. A flea comb would also be handy and get that vacuum cleaner ready for when she goes out, to get any eggs. Change bedding very frequently as well.

May be best to give the vet a phone and ask for advice.

As Pinot said, though, keep the drops for use at a later stage.

ratbagcatbag · 06/09/2012 20:25

Awwww kittens, are you keeping mum for yourself then and possibly a couple of kittens Grin

If neighbours cat sadly passed away they may be interested in a new addition as well. Only two left to go now hehe
