I think this might be FABCat's last thread

This morning she was coughing and has also had a sloppy bowel accident outside. She wasn't interested in breakfast even though I didn't come down until after 9 and she wasn't about when DH left at 7. He normally feeds her before he goes. I had to put the plate under her nose to get her to come and ear.

Her back legs are a bit wobbly and I will take her for a jab on Monday to hopefully get some relief. She didn't wee over night so that is postiive but when I was comforting her when she was coughing it really hit me that she is very old and isn't my baby anymore Sad.

She has lasted for DD's birthday but I am not sure she will make her own Sad.

I have just put a towel on the sofa for her to sit on, just in case, but she wasn't impressed and has jumped down on to the floor.

My cat is getting to the end of her life and I am not sure I will ever get over it Blush.

She means the world to me, is the only thing in the world that is 100% mine, and I will miss her so much.

I think 18 is probably the end of the road as in she might not see 19 but not as in she isn't coming home from the appointment I am taking her too in a few minutes.

Grin

FABCat is down to 10lbs 1oz (I typed stone first Shock) which has done her the world of good and why she can jump up onto my bed now.

No damage from when DS2 stood on her paw. Pure coincidence that she didn't have her jab yesterday morning and was limping last night. He was relaxed about me cancelling as she had been doing so well. receptionist giving me grief for nothing. Her movements are all good and the mass has not changed so all in all she is doing okay GrinGrin.

Glad it's all good!

5inthebed · 14/11/2012 19:07

Glad to hear FabCat is doing well. I often see this in active and tentatively open it just incase it is bad news.

JustFabulous · 14/11/2012 19:25

Sorry 5inthebed.

It has been 3 months since I started this thread and here she is going relatively strong.

The vet pretty much said tonight she has exceeded expectations.

My lovely old cat was very ill last Xmas but rallied and carried on until Sept. I would never have thought she would have lasted as long as she did, bless her.

JustFabulous · 14/11/2012 19:40

They are strong furballs, aren't they?

Sorry you lost her in the end though Sad.

Horsemad · 14/11/2012 19:42

Thanks JustFab it's devastating when it happens, but it goes with the territory of pet ownership unfortunately Sad

5inthebed · 14/11/2012 20:38

Dont apologise! It's lovely hat she is still here?

Horsemad · 15/11/2012 16:12

JustFabulous how is your cat today?

JustFabulous · 15/11/2012 21:06

She is still limping Sad but is happy in herself and has had a play with her toy. Slept a lot.

Thanks for asking.

That's good Smile

Horsemad · 16/11/2012 07:39

Not good about still limping, sorry - posted before thinking. She must be happy if she's playing. She's an old lady so sleeping a lot is normal Smile

JustFabulous · 16/11/2012 07:43

I knew what you meant Smile.

She is walking a bit better this morning. The vet said to give her a week so still early days so I am trying not to worry too much.

Fast asleep next to me now Grin. It is tiring work eating breakfast Grin.

A play with her toy is a good sign. She's doing well.

Smile
Horsemad · 16/11/2012 21:57

Keep us posted JustFabulous

JustFabulous · 17/11/2012 10:58

We just heard something in my room so DS1 ran up to check and he said FABCat was stood up like a human with her claws in the duvet. She had obviously fallen off when trying to get on the bed Sad. He helped her up and now I am going up to sit with her while I write a letter and get away from the noise of DH on the xbox.

She was fine jumping the other day Confused.

It requires a lot of exertion to get yourself out of that position. More than many young cats would have in fact - except that they normally scratch vigorously so avoid the problem.

I keep seniorboy's tips nice and short to avoid any such incidents; in case his scratching is not effective. Do you trim FABCat's?

She'll enjoy sitting with you anyway.

Sunnywithachanceofshowers · 17/11/2012 12:41

Try not to worry Fab, Oscar has dicky back legs and sometimes he makes the jump and sometimes he doesn't. I've started putting him on the bed when he comes in now.

Horsemad · 17/11/2012 13:21

Yes this can happen sometimes that they'll make the jump and not quite make it other times. I wouldn't necessarily worry, but would agree it's a good idea to keep her claws short. Smile

JustFabulous · 17/11/2012 16:14

I have never cut her claws and definitely wouldn't start now. Sometimes we have to help her free a claw but she lets us. She has just shouted at DH to get him to feed her as he said it wasn't time yet Grin.

She won Grin.

cozietoesie · 17/11/2012 16:26

Fair enough - you know her best.

She's really got your DH under the paw, hasn't she?

Grin
JustFabulous · 17/11/2012 16:53

Oh yes GrinGrin.

Horsemad · 17/11/2012 18:08

My DH is like that - he buys M&S prawns for her every Saturday. Think he loves her more than he loves me Shock

JustFabulous · 17/11/2012 18:53

Oh I definitely love her more than him.....
