FABCat now has cancer on top of her other ailments. She is on medication for those and is doing really well. I think I have almost fully decided that she is not going to have surgery wobbles so really I need to know what is going to happen to her as time goes on and when is it time for the dreaded last trip to the vet?

Can I just have a strop here? I know she is 17, I know she is old, but it feels like I have only had her five minutes but at at the same time can't remember life pre my PFC. When ever she went, even at 25 years old, would be too soon.

haha! She would love the most expensive food, and now she will not eat anything else!

My cat was trying to find a corner, going behind the television and hiding himself away. He was 17 and then it looked like he was struggling to walk. Vet gave him a jab and it really brought him back to normal, but only for a day. The following morning he didn't seem to have feeling in his back legs and was just lying down. Never been ill in his life. We did just know it was his time. And it was terrribly painful fo us all, but he is with us now in his little round box and we still chat 2 years on!

You know when it is time because you cannot bear to watch your beloved pet suffer. It sounds like she still has a reasonable quality of life. x

JustFabulous · 27/07/2012 20:01

What about still having fight?

I tried to get something off her paw that is stuck on it. She Was Not Happy.

I moved her from one side of the sofa (my side) to the other side (her side) and she shouted at me.

Grin.

She is stiff with her back legs though Sad.

She sounds like a grumpy old lady Smile. aybe she would like a big slipper and a shrug/throw for her knees.

You have given her such a loving life Fab, you can't do any more than what you are.

oopsCENSOREDagain · 27/07/2012 20:14

Oh Fab just saw this, not cancer too on top of everything else Sad.

Hope you have your lovely lady for a while longer.

JustFabulous · 27/07/2012 20:14

I thought that said a big slap Shock.

3 more months and she will have lived with me for 18 years Shock. She is the person I have had in my life more than anyone ever except for 2 school friends. She sleeps loads but sunbathes too.

JustFabulous · 27/07/2012 20:16

I know, oops, I can't believe it will be that that probably takes her from me when she has lived with hyperestesia for 7 years, kidneys starting to fail for 17 months and arthritis for months. She had a stroke a while ago too, the vet feels, that we didn't see.

FABCat has been sleeping all day. Didn't ask for her breakfast but she has eaten it once we put it down anyway.

I thought her tablets had kicked in but she is back to weeing on the floor.

I wonder if her snoring is a sign there is a problem?

Hello FAB, sorry to hear FABcat is so poorly.

Snoring isn't necessarily a problem - Oscar has snored loudly for all of his 18 years.

JustFabulous · 29/07/2012 18:56

Oscar is a brilliant name Grin.

FABCat hasn't always snored which was why I was concerned.

We have been out all day but she ate her tea and is now asleep next to me.

Vet tomorrow.

Another tripto the vet this morning.

Naughty FABCat has put a bit of weight on Grin. The vet laughed when he realised. She has had 2 injections and has been fine since. Napped for a bit and had a little walk.

The vet said it would be the cancer than takes her, she won't go off to die and it is a case of the cancer lump getting to big. I guess he is saying she will have to be PTS rather than dying naturally.

£106. I am still laughing about this. The cat has cost me more than the kids these last few days!

OP posts:
Sunnywithachanceofshowers · 30/07/2012 21:58

LOL at the weight gain - that's good news. And sympathies about the vet's bill :)

JustFabulous · 31/07/2012 12:51

DS1 and 2 and I went out this morning and when we got back FABCat gave me a shock. She was out in the front, laying down in the garden and she never goes there. She limped a few steps to the door though Sad, I hope she could move if the annoying dog from over there > went for her. She is sleeping now.

OP posts:
Migsy1 · 31/07/2012 22:28

Nice that she was being adventurous though. A good sign.

JustFabulous · 01/08/2012 13:56

I am definitely going to have to take her to the vet on Monday for another injection as she has weed on the floor overnight again. She never wees there in the day though Confused.

How do we know if she has lost control of her bladder [bad news] or just being naughty Grin or not able to get outside quick enough Sad?

OP posts:
Migsy1 · 01/08/2012 17:07

Have you tried a litter tray?

JustFabulous · 01/08/2012 19:32

We have but she can't manage. She kind of tries but wee still goes on the floor. It is easier to just clean the floor tbh.

She had a new expensive tea and was very happy. Ate all of it. Later when making tea for dh and I she got in the way kept me company. Didn't realise why. Dawned on me now, having tucked into cod with pasta Hmm.

She was laid in a really strange way on the floor though. I will get the vet to examine her on Monday to see if it has grown.

OP posts:
Migsy1 · 01/08/2012 22:45

Poor thing but at least she still has a taste for good food!

JustFabulous · 02/08/2012 08:55

More mopping up this morning.

I wish I knew what to do.

OP posts:
NaturalWinningNaturesTeamGB · 02/08/2012 11:19

Is she peeing in the same sort of areas?

She might not be seeing well in the dark, I got 3 really low sided plastic trays and put them by my girls sleeping places which helped but meant litter trays everywhere I also put food/water by them at night so she didn't have to move far.

Glad she's enjoying the food.

JustFabulous · 02/08/2012 12:24

Yes, she always does it in the same place. She is weeing directly on the floor. I am going to see if I can get a really low sided litter tray as she struggles to squat.

I could also see about leaving a light on for her though dh will be HmmGrin as cats are meant to be able to see in the dark.
