OP posts:
WoodyAllen · 10/09/2010 23:49

25 puffins

Lizcat · 11/09/2010 13:45

A half cooked (BBQ) rib, did he grab it off someones BBQ?

ilovesprouts · 13/09/2010 19:55

a frog !! Shock

BellaBearisWideAwake · 13/09/2010 19:56

a kestrel

(he didn't kill it and it escaped alive. bit dramatic though)

choufleur · 13/09/2010 19:58

A magpie, grass snakes, frogs (which squeal when bitten) a bat ... worms when he was a kitten. Loads of mice and some small birds.

BellaBearisWideAwake · 13/09/2010 19:59

oh, and a chicken leg. cooked, and iirc marinaded.

CMOTdibbler · 13/09/2010 20:33

a gammon steak, a ham sandwich, a magpie, rabbits (dh came down one morning to find a lone tiny paw in the middle of the kitchen), currently in throws of a shrew massacre

Several houses ago, we had a family of gerbils living under our shed. First time the inlaws to be (as they were) came to visit, cat appeared at the window with half a gerbil in his mouth..

That cat collected crisp packets and milk bottle seals, and deposited them in the gas meter cupboard where they would build up

My, rather thick, ginger boy brings back clumps of moss - the thick stuff that has long furry seed heads. Reckon he must be dyslexic and think its a "mouse". He's always so proud of hinself as well!

HuckingFell · 18/09/2010 22:07

shrews, voles, mice, squirrels, moles, weasels, magpies, baby birds, a whole uncracked birds egg.

and he likes me to carry him around like a baby tickling his tummy.

SparkleRainbow · 19/09/2010 08:23

Frogs and toads, rabbits, mice, voles, and shrews, birds of all sizes and my personal favourite sausages from our bbq which were still being cooked....she was all right by the way Grin

My sister's cat brings in worms and rubber bands it thinks are worms....bless.

(Does it count that the dogs dug out a rats nest in the compost heap and dispatched the lot of them, and brought me the spoils? Confused

LadyBiscuit · 19/09/2010 08:29

I used to live in a top floor flat and my cats would prowl the roof tops. One of my neighbours clearly were growing veg on their roof and the cats would bring back all their plant labels. I think they must have wondered what happened to them (unless of course the cats also shit in them which is a possibility Blush).

  • Gloves - all kinds, gardening, wooly etc. Normally one on one day, the matching other half of the pair the following day
  • Underwear. Always clean from people's washing baskets. I've lost count of the the number of knickers/socks/bras that have been brought home
  • A live duckling
  • Snakes - both alive and dead
  • A live (small) rabbit
fruitshootsandheaves · 20/09/2010 22:29

Lots of Koi, which he would eat on the drive.
He brought them home over several days...I was sure he would be shot by the owner of the Koi but after eating about 5 I think they ran out Shock

sorry to anyone who mysteriously lost a pond full of Koi in about 1990ish

Dawnybabe · 20/09/2010 22:43

Our little cat used to sit for ages by a mole hill and eventually the mole would come up for air and the cat would have it.

I have never seen patience like it in an animal before or since.

MegBusset · 20/09/2010 22:47

A dead mouse... with mousetrap still attached

A cocktail sausage

lisad123isgoingcrazy · 20/09/2010 22:49

frog and squirrel!! not both on same day mind

plusonemore · 20/09/2010 22:51

a partly defrosted fillet of fish. It was a warm day, presumably someone had left to defrost for their tea on the windowsill. I cooked for the cats tea! Grin

Olihan · 20/09/2010 22:55

My friend's cat brought a bat into her bedroom, dropped it on the bedclothes for her, only it wasn't dead and started flapping around the room.

Ours have only ever caught the odd bird or mouse.

grannieonabike · 20/09/2010 23:05

Huge headless rabbit. Came home, saw the back of something white and furry going through catflap. Opened door, head fell off (the rabbit's, or course). Cat nochalently licking paws.

Surrepticiously searched local gardens for evidence of escaped bunny, but no idea whatsoever where cat got it from. Hate to think of some poor child mourning beloved pet ... But what was the rabbit doing, trying to get into our house??

feetheart · 20/09/2010 23:06

Grin at mouse with mouse-trap!

Girl cat is the hunter. Nothing too dramatic - mice, shrews, baby birds, etc. Did bring in 2 birds eggs a few weeks ago. DD (7 and with yearnings to be a vet) was delighted and insisted on dissecting them - cue much discussion on embryos, blood vessels, baby bird development, etc. Luckily I wasn't fazed unlike queasy DH :)

grannieonabike · 20/09/2010 23:10

That's like the time we boiled a bluetit. It was already dead and my son wanted to see the skeleton. It would have taken too long to bury it and dig it up so I decided to boil the feathers and meat off it - stupidly not realising that once the meat was boiled off the bones, the skeleton didn't stay intact like a little dinosaur model. It fell apart.

musicmadness · 21/09/2010 00:34

This was my parents cat really as I was only little but I will always remember these.

A headless toad, that was placed lovingly on my breakfast plate that my mum had put out the night before! Wonder if the cat was trying to tell me something...

A live sparrow. That promptly took up residence on top of the curtains as soon as the cat dropped it. It took a while for my mum to be able to catch and liberate the bird. I seem to remember the cat being quite miffed that we had let his prey get away.

Tiggly · 23/09/2010 20:49

Loving this thread!!My very first "gift", of which he made a great song and dance about, was a leaf!! He was extreamly proud of himself. He outdid himself at the mars bar wrapper, club biscuit wrapper and a squashed ribena carton!! Outstanding! His brother is the senior hunter as has brought back the usual birds and mice (one which ran around the kitchen and hid in the grill of our old cooker and I bravely evicted him wearing a pair of welding gauntlets!! Yes I am a wimp! (Previous experience of being bitten by a mole and having to have a tetanus booster as a reward for saving the mole from the cat!). Grin

Notyetamummy · 26/09/2010 18:24

My dh's cat, when dh was younger, brought home a homing pigeon.

It was injured, but not dead so mil took it to the vets and located it's owner.

We've also had bats/mice/rats/birds. My 1 year old female cat is a great hunter. The rats that she brings in are the same size as her. She doesn't touch our pet rats though Hmm
