Trousers with opening crotch (for weeing)

Just been on a long walk and spent half of it needing to wee.

I've googled and found Gnara Go There trousers, which zip open all the way round, but they only seem to be available in the US.

Does anyone know of anything similar in the UK?

I've tried a SheWee in the past but never feel confident using it.

Long skirtGrin

I understand the issue but I've never seen such trousers

Most woman just pull trousers down and squat. Takes a bit of practice and strong thighs but works.

Thanks, I've done both of these things before and find neither a great option.

Might have to make my own prototype 😂

def just take them down and squat. Can’t see how you wouldn’t risk getting wee around the opening, and they would look pretty fetish-y, to be honest.

Gnara do ship internationally! I have some but I had them sent to a relative in the US who was about to visit. They are really great and genuinely comfy outdoor trousers and the zip is just a fab addition.

@bobomomo is right - long skirt is the best answer! I wear these
skirts, they are amazing! Comfortable, lightweight, wash and dry easily, hug pockets, and they convert to a kind of harem pant-style trouser . A bit expensive but worth it (and they do have occasional sales)

Genuine question on these trousers- what good is a zip if you're wearing pants underneath? I'd be worried about getting them wet if you attempted to pull to the side but equally I wouldn't want to be hiking commando? I'd also be worried about getting around the opening wet.

To me pull down and squat is the easiest option still...

OMG!! 😁

They say nothing about facilitating plops. I wonder if you have to buy a separate garment or special kit for that.

I have Endura cycling trousers with a zip down arse so you can wee or poo behind a hedge without taking them off. No idea if they do a walking version.

When camping I have found a plastic protein shaker just the right size and capacity for an early morning in my tent wee! Then I can seal it up and take it up to the toilets discreetly when dressed 😊😊

You could just wear a long tunic top. Dresses always better for modesty when outdoors!

Squatting often means you have to take your pack off. I can't use a shewee without dropping my trousers down to expose my bum. Older women may find it harder to squat.

I would totally buy these trousers but the cost is too high with the import fees.

There have been attempts to sell these type of trousers before but they didn't really take off. Outdoor research had a sub brand that sold them but not in the UK and they stopped making them 20+ years ago.

There are definitely more women in the outdoors now than there were even 5 years ago so I hope things like this will become commonplace. Kula cloths have become a must have accessory round here so there is hope.

Long skirts hiking?

I've definitely seen more women hiking in skirts. I've tried it a couple of times and the only thing i struggled with was climbing a gate.

I'm 5' tall my little legs don't clear my trousers.

@helpfulperson have you seen macabi travel skirts? Problem solved!

I saw many Macabi skirt wearers on the Camino. Mostly US/Canadian women. The weather was mixed, cool but not freezing. They wore knee socks and if very cold knee sleeves like these below underneath.

Knee Sleeves, Unisex Bamboo Charcoal Elastic Warm Knee Brace Kneecap Protective Pads Support For Sports Protection, Arthritis Joint, Pain Relief (White L) : Amazon.co.uk: Health & Personal Care

I didn't pay too much attention as they looked bloody awful however they were practical I admit, and I could probably make one myself or get one made for a quarter of the price. But I never minded going behind a bush off the trail, as many others did too. I nearly always made it to the next pitstop anyway.

Goodness I can’t imagine hiking in a long skirt or flappy trousers. Doesn’t it blow around your legs in the wind? I can imagine it being useful for modesty while peeing but you’d still have to deal with knickers, surely? And, no matter how slim I am (and when I last did a lot of hiking I was a fit size 8-10, alas no more) the shape of my thighs means I get chub rub so skirts without shorts underneath are never comfortable to walk any distance in.

Like others, I just squat behind a bush, though I do know there are situations where this isn’t possible.

Yes this. It's all very well having a zip to open a gap in your trousers, but unless you also have a zip in your knickers, you still can't wee.

Bodysuit with snap openers at the crotch would work!

A Travel John is a little funnel with a plastic bag attached (and it has an absorbent packet in it.)

You would need to use it with loose-ish trousers (ie joggers or stretchy leggings.)

If you can find a hedge or a large tree, you can squat- just a half squat- and wee that way. If you're wearing a longer coat or jacket it would cover your bum.
